Help Strike Out Meth at Volcanoes Stadium FridaySalem-News.comStriking Out Meth in Marion County celebration to be held during Volcanoes game on Friday evening.
(SALEM) - The Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council, in conjunction with Volcanoes Baseball, is pleased to announce the first annual “Striking Out Meth in Marion County.” The celebration will be held at Volcanoes Stadium, on Friday, July 14th, as the Volcanoes play the Tri City Dust Devils. Gates open at 6:00 PM and the game begins promptly at 7:05 PM. Everyone attending the game is welcome to participate. “We are thrilled to be partnered with Volcanoes Baseball for such a visible and family-friendly event to celebrate the successes our businesses, non-profit organizations and communities have enjoyed in this critical fight against methamphetamines,” said Marion County Commissioner Patti Milne, who also chairs the Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council. “This is a great opportunity to showcase all the hard work that people have put forward to rid our neighborhoods of the meth problem. We have a long way to go, but this is a fun way to thank the community, and encourage them to keep up those important efforts.” The evening includes displays, information and activities from a wide variety of non-profit and community organizations, as well as local businesses that highlight drug testing policies, identity theft prevention, and community involvement. Free tee-shirts will be given to the first 1000 children through the gates, and the evening will conclude with a fireworks show. Over 30 local businesses have sponsored this evening to provide the free tee-shirts, signs, and tickets for foster families to attend the game. “I am overwhelmed at the positive community response for this event,” said Milne. “So many businesses and organizations have stepped up to be leaders in this effort – it’s very encouraging. Meth is such a serious topic, and I am glad we had this opportunity to bring the community together for a positive celebration.” Salem-News Sports: Sports
