Ted Nugent, the Ranting Rocker, Takes his Racist Musical Show Across AmericaSalem-News.com
Nugent's Obama-hating, racist shtick pulled him out of a deep career dive.
(CHICAGO) - Ted Nugent is known as a ranting, rocker with extreme right-wing political views, in which he embeds Obama-bashing and racism into his musical act. Ted Nugent has taken his racist act on the road across America.
Last year in the thick of the 2012 presidential election, Ted Nugent the racist rocker, said in a cryptic pronouncement that “Ifbecomes the next president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."
Ted Nugent is neither dead nor in jail.
He is touring across America.
Since July 11, Ted Nugent has been touring the country with his raucous, racist, ranting rock and roll show. The tour will continue through Sept. 1 where he will play in Laughlin, Nevada, at the Edgewater Casino.
In fact, the very much alive and un-jailed Ted Nugent has a musical gig at Freedom Park in Chicago Ridge, Illinois on Saturday, July 27. The occasion is Chicago Ridge's annual festival, Ridgefest. For Ted Nugent this will be a return performance, according to the Southtown Star. Chicago Ridge Mayor Chuck Tokar, who has been in charge of RidgeFest since its inception in 1989 when he was village clerk, said of Ted Nugent and his act, "This is his third time here in six years. He likes it here. I guess it’s his kind of crowd. He packs the place."
Not everybody feels as welcoming as Mayor Chuck Taylor. On Thursday evening, Aug. 6, Ted Nugent will play at Toad’s Place, a popular New Haven venue. However, John Finegan, says we don't want him here. John Finegan, a resident of Weston, Conn., says he will not be there.
Ted Nugent recently said in a column that Trayvon Martin is a "dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe." This coming from a "racist thug" rocker. He is someone who espouses hate and tries to celebrate the differences more so than things that unify and bring us together," said Finegan.
Some of the other comments that offended Finegan include: “George Zimmerman is thankfully and rightfully not facing any jail time for legally defending himself, but he is far from a free man.”
And: “While there is little he can do to protect himself from a civil rights charge by our gun-running, pro-New Black Panthers attorney general, Mr. Zimmerman may have some legal room to move regarding a wrongful death lawsuit by Trayvon Martin’s family. George Zimmerman should consider suing Trayvon Martin’s parents.”
Finegen would like for Toad's Place owner Brian Phelps to disinvite Ted Nugent. But Phelps says no. “He’s playing here no matter what happens.”
That pronouncement resulted in a visit by the United States Secret Service, which viewed the remarks as a death threat. And Ted Nugent backed off his words as he explained to the U.S. Secret Service he didn't mean anything by that little crack.
Nope. Ted Nugent is not dead or in jail.
Ted Nugent has a concert. One of many he has booked since his career took a deep dive. Ted Nugent's career was saved by "racist" shtick, that he has developed since President Obama was elected in 2008.
In fact, in the coming months, Ted Nugent will be playing nonstop across America, spreading his music and his newfound political shtick. He came out of that deep career dive, until he came up with this Obama-hating, racist shtick. Now he plays anywhere and everywhere, drawing thousands of people and making a nice living, thank you.
Yes, as I said, Ted Nugent is coming to Ridgefest at Freedom Park in Chicago Ridge on Saturday, July 27. This community event held every year in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. In the publicity for the Ridgefest event, says that Ted Nugent comes "direct from the State of the Union Address."
Ted Nugent was invited last February to President Obama's 2013 State of the Union address as the guest of conservative Tea Partier, Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX).
That was for the optics of pitting himself as the white hero to his base and continues his racist shtick.
A reference was also made to his many controversies, including his well-known racist and Obama-hating views. In a direct right-wing appeal the publicity for Ridgefest says "Uncle Ted will be bringing his incredible guitar skills and his well-known rock anthems (and maybe a controversial viewpoint or two) for your entertainment pleasure."
The controversies surrounding Ted Nugent date back to the 2012 election when Ted Nugent said about President Obama "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November."
