Flotilla II: Kevin Neish Well-Wishes Rally Hopes to reach GazaDiane Walsh, MA, Salem-News.com
Kevin's courage to return is a great inspiration to many.
(VICTORIA, B.C.) - On Saturday June 25th several people gathered at the Downtown Victoria Inner Harbour to send their well-wishes to activist Kevin Neish, of Victoria.
He is set to travel with other activists/humanitarians from all over the world carrying aid to Gaza a-board Tahrir Canada Canada-Boat-to-Gaza - part of the group of Flotilla II - adventure with specific aim to break the illegal blockade of Gaza. Flotillas are in the midst of leaving port (as we speak) seeking to break this blockade around Gaza and raise consciousness about the plight of suffering Palestinians.
Kevin Neish was one of the passengers who was on board MV Mavi Marmara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Mavi_Marmara) when it was attacked last May 31, 2010. 9 people were killed by the Israeli Army IDFs and several were injured.
His courage to return is a great inspiration to many. Zoe Blunt, one of the speakers at today's rally, shares her hope that - Gaza Freedom - Flotilla II will reach the goal of getting there. In this video she encourages the crowd to sing 'We Shall Overcome' which is quite moving.
Alice Walker, award-winning American author, was also mentioned today because she is traveling to Gaza a-board US Boat to Gaza. Please read also Alice Walker's comments here in the Guardian at http://tinyurl.com/6yr5pdk for more information as to why she was inspired to join the Free Gaza Movement.

Diane became acquainted with the Salem-News.com team during a recent speaking tour with our Writer Ken O'Keefe, the famous Gaza Peace Activist, that included Canada. Diane is a welcome addition to our lineup of truth-bound thoughtful and extremely talented writers; in fact her world around the world covering United Nations in Geneva, snapping photographs of Barack Obama, and turning around and masterfully operating a video camera, make Diane one of Salem-News.com's best, most intrepid journalists.
