Keep Oregon Green! Marijuana is Minutes from Being Legal for 21+ Adults!

Remember those Cannabis Freedom Fighters who gave their all as we witness the end of Cannabis prohibition in Oregon ... Dr. Phil Leveque ... Larry “LK” Kirk ... Lindsey Bradshaw ... Jack “the Hemperor” Herer ... Jim Klahr ... Jim Greig ... and so many more.

Oregon's signature color is GREEN!

(SALEM, Ore.) - The countdown is in full force for adults, soon-to-be LEGAL cannabis users, in the state of Oregon.

The west side of the Burnside Bridge will be a most popular spot very shortly. It is rumored that at midnight (July 1) all 21+ adults with ID will be given free marijuana and cannabis seeds, courtesy of medical marijuana providers and activists.

As of 12:01 am, July 1, the new Oregon laws voted in via Measure 91 go into effect making it legal for adults ages 21 and up to possess and use recreational marijuana. Yes, you can grow your own as of midnight tonight.

Each residence (home) can grow up to four plants, out of public view, and they are able to share the cannabis with other 21+ adults. That does not mean each resident gets four plants, as has been unfortunately confused by some.

Large scale growers cannot apply with the State to be a supplier, and retailers are not able to apply to be a store until early 2016. That means, no Oregon stores will have marijuana for sale until the fall of 2016. Don’t get me wrong... Things can change.

There is a very good chance that date could move forward, as it benefits no one for it to wait long. For now, ironically, recreational marijuana use will be legal for adults in Oregon to have and use, but no one will be allowed to buy or sell it.

Not buying it won’t stop adults from using marijuana, because... where there's a will there's a way.

Where they get it may be a mystery, but not being able to find marijuana in Oregon has never been much of a problem.

Sadly, the authorities have created a situation whereas the black market will surely see a massive surge of business while legal entrepreneurs are put on hold in taking care of would-be legally paying customers.

Pot proponents have always enjoyed sharing marijuana, and now they’ll have a great reason to give it away. There is no law against that.

Anthony Johnson, chief Petitioner of Measure 91, said this today following a press conference with Congressman Earl Blumenauer, “Since Oregon voters were wise enough to Vote Yes on 91, Oregon has further solidified itself as a leader in the fight against the harmful Drug War.

“We have come so far and cannabis legalization will improve the lives of thousands upon thousands of people, but we aren't done yet. Our marijuana laws still need improving and the greater Drug War must end.

"July 1st is a great step forward for Oregon and the rest of the nation, but it is just one step on the path to true equality and freedom and ending a barbaric war that is being waged against nonviolent citizens.”

The Oregon Health Administration sent out a reminder to all OMMP Dispensary owners that they cannot sell to the public when Measure 91 goes into effect on July 1, 2015.

If you are an OMMP patient and have been to Oregon dispensaries, you already know that the regulations are very rigorous. Those rules will probably get tighter as pressure from the public increases.

Members of the public are not allowed in medical marijuana dispensaries in Oregon. Marijuana may not be provided, sold, dispensed, or otherwise transferred to members of the public by a dispensary on dispensary property. This includes any transfers by vendors on dispensary property. So, don’t ask a patient to buy weed for you. That would be illegal.

Dispensaries cannot provide, sell, or dispense marijuana at an offsite event or to an offsite event, so you won’t see them set up at Oregon festivals handing out samples. Dispensaries pay the price for their professionalism, but recreational stores are not far behind.

“Yes, legalization will bring jobs and revenue, but the most important thing is the freedom to be yourself, without being criminalized by the government.

“It hasn't been easy, it hasn't been perfect, and there is much more work to be done, but at the stroke of midnight, Oregon will be more free. I'll take more freedom any day,” Johnson said.

Some say the Portland chapter of NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) is celebrating by gathering on the west side of the Burnside Bridge at 11:30 p.m. tonight, June 30, so traffic in the area may be a bit heavier than usual.

The mood is reported to be very high.
