Sri Lanka Government is Shaking in its BootsTim King Salem-News.com
Using genocide to eradicate terrorism was nothing less than a fiasco for the violent Buddhist government of Sri Lanka.
(SALEM) - Ethnic minorities on this island nation are slaughtered en masse, political targets of the government are "white vanned" - (abducted by government forces who terrorize the population with white vans which drive fear in the population), and even tourists are raped and murdered in this place that tends to place a nationalist, twisted form of violent Buddhism in front of any other human rights.
A government orchestrated genocide swept the Tamil population of Sri Lanka in 2009 and brought an end to Sri Lanka's long running civil war, at a cost of 40,000 lives, the UN says. Local estimates of those killed places the number around 160,000, and they died in the worst, most unimaginable ways. The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) operated in the depths of depravity and it all hinges on a single angle; that the military force created to defend the helpless Tamil civilian population, the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) or Tamil Tigers, had been designated a "terrorist" group. The word "terrorist" is used in Sri Lanka the same way it is used in Palestine. Sri Lanka and Israel, both well funded US allies, use the term to constantly justify wanton acts of rape and torture, murder and unlawful imprisonment.
All in the name of "fighting terrorism".
The genocide of Tamils was extremely well documented, to the point that only a blithering fool would even attempt to deny it. Thousands and thousands of photos and video frames of SLA soldiers abusing Tamils await those willing to search Google Images for "Tamil Genocide". Yet Sri Lanka's President, Majinda Rajapakse, and his cronies whined and whined, calling the scientifically analyzed genocide images "fakes". Sri Lanka accused respectable news agencies like Channel 4 in London of waging some vengeful act against the government of Sri Lanka, which was to any observer, nothing less than absurd.
Sri Lanka was quietly convicted of the crime of Genocide in the The Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal world court, in December 2013. Press release:The Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal on Sri Lanka – Session II 7th – 10th December 2013 Bremen, Germany. Now this unapologetic government is heading to the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHCR) at the behest of UNHRC Commissioner Navi Pillay. One country after another has joined in the call for Sri Lanka's accountability, the hold out countries Russia, China and Cuba, hold the torch for these murderers in the Sri Lankan government.
The worst part of it all is the widespread targeting of media by the Sri Lankan government. And why should Russia or China object? We are talking about red China and the former playground of Stalin. People in the east are so unaccustomed to free society that they can't even begin to comprehend it. But the Tamils of Sri Lanka understand the concept well, and in spite of the tragedy this Hindu and Christian ethnic minority suffered at the hands of Sri Lanka's Sinhala Buddhist extremist government, they may see justice, or some form of justice, in the end.
