The President of the Rwanda People’s Party, congratulates Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.

Rwanda People's Party

(LONDON) - The following is a public letter from the President of the Rwanda People's Party, John V Karuranga, to the new President-elect of Kenya,Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta
Kenyan President-Elect
State House
Kileleshwa Estate
P.O.Box 40530
Nairobi Kenya

Dear Mr. Kenyatta

Both personally and on behalf of my party, the Rwanda People’s Party, I would like to express my most sincere congratulations on your impressive victory in Kenya’s presidential elections and on the vote of support you received from the resilient people of Kenya.

I sincerely wish you every success in taking on new responsibilities and ensuring the well-being, security and peace in Kenya. At this time I want to call upon Hon. Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other presidential candidates to accept the results, move-on and to prepare themselves for the next 2018 presidential elections.I believe that Kenya and Rwanda have made significant progress in cooperating in various fields, bringing substantial benefits to both peoples and playing a positive role in promoting peace and development in the Great Lakes Region of Nations and in the rest of the world.

I am optimistic that the cooperation between our sister countries and our peoples will continue to be strengthened, in particular working hand-in-hand with Rwanda for the promotion of the charters of the East African Community, the African Union and the Great Lakes Region of Nations and the United Nations.

I also wish to use this opportunity to congratulate all political parties and stakeholders for their discipline and the organised, peaceful, mature and professional manner in which they conducted themselves during these election

I wish to call upon you, Mr. President-Elect and your incoming administration to work with the other political parties and all Kenyans so that together you can deal with challenges that are faced by the people of Kenya and rest of the region. In particular your contribution to ending political instability and the genocide faced by Congolese Kinyarwanda speaking people in the DRC.

Today, the voice of 14.3million of the resilient people of Kenya has decided their own destiny. This wasn’t only about the right of Kenyans to decide their own political destiny; it was also a clear and absolute indictment against the ICC that was set-up by the Western powers to undermine African democracy and leadership. The International Criminal Court is scandalous and a set back to the principles of democracy, human rights and the dignity of all African people. I invite all African people to follow suit the Kenyan people and to reject it.

Both the Rwanda People’s Party and the Jubilee Coalition are great political parties and share a wide range of common interests and basis for cooperation.

I look forward to continuing to work together with you to further promote the development of constructive and cooperative relations between our parties that shall benefit the people of the two great nations, the EAC and the rest of the Great Lakes Region of Nations.

May I again send my best wishes for your commitment and resolve. Please accept Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Sincerely yours

John V Karuranga,
Rwanda People's Party
