(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police investigators are on the scene of a fire that ripped through a commercial business in Salem Sunday evening.

Firefighters discovered the remains of three human beings inside the building.

Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says it is too soon to know very much; as of mid-morning, the bodies had not yet been removed from the building.

The location is at M.L. Holmes Construction, which is located just east of 13th Street in south Salem.

Okada says it will be some time before the identity of the three victims will be completed or released.

It is not clear at this point whether the victims died in the fire.

It is standard practice for police to treat a scene like this as a homicide until more information can be determined.

The call for the fire came down at approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday.

Oh wow, this is pretty intense news for Salem. I used to live on Cedar way, about a 1 minute drive from there. Crazy. Thanks for filling us in Tim!
