The Frustration of Media Power

Our crews often report straight from the source of the action, in places like Egypt, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Israel, the open expanses of the US and ancient cities of Europe and Asia.

(SALEM) - Who ever would have imagined that the power of media would fall to the people in the new millennium? The Internet has allowed this. Sadly, Americans are so well ingrained at this point that it is hard to bring them back. This nation, the United States of America, has moved from being a world liberator, to a world threat. The dollars all flow to the media groups that nod their head accordingly; cash fills the coffers of those who don't ruffle the bed, and that is a proper descriptive because the corporations are only whores in this world of over control.

Keep your mouth shut, don't offend anyone in your reporting...

I have become very interested in a movie currently being shot in Salem. The crew is recording the story of Nellie Bly, the first investigative journalist in America. She became nationally famous in the late 1880's for infiltrating the "Lunatic Asylum" at Blackwell's Island in New York.

Her exposé led to the place not just being closed, but actually torn down. This is the spirit of journalism, it is still alive, but truth has been replaced by something more important in a desperate society, that is money.

Our writer, the late Henry Clay Ruark, knew this well as he authored stories on about the economic schools of thought that have led us to this cliff. He saw it coming in his 90's, he knew it was mostly too late, but he never stopped striving to make a difference, and I like to think that defines us.

What the future holds, nobody really knows. I just know that as the news editor of for the past ten straight years, I have felt the power of media, I have a collection of names of people who we helped in meaningful ways, life and death more than once.

I have many amazing projects that are a result of our existence that I can't develop or bring forward, that is a large part of the frustration. One of our writers has invented an effective solar power system that will fill a home with usable electricity. One of our contacts created a cure for Hep C, another has a cannabis oil that will cure cancer, one has a machine that can reverse the effects of nuclear contamination. These things have come to our attention strictly because people know is true. If only I could work with these people to bring their ideas forward, it is all very potentially, life changing, and I'm just getting started.

It is all one big uphill battle, but I am exceedingly proud of our writers. There are over 100 and they are some of the finest people in the world. Our crews often report straight from the source of the action, in places like Egypt, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Israel, and the open expanses of the US and ancient cities of Europe and Asia.
