Memorandum of Urgent Intervention to Stop Continuous Genocide of Muslims in Myanmar

MEMORANDUM OF AN URGENT INTERVENTION TO STOP CONTINUOUS GENOCIDE TOWARDS MUSLIMS IN MYANMAR.


Myanmar Ethnic Rohingya Human Rights Organization Malaysia (MERHROM) strongly condemns the attack on Muslim population in Myanmar since many decades by the Myanmar government. The recent riot involving Buddhist and Muslim in Meiktila is the interpretation of continuous effort to clean Muslim from Myanmar. The riot which started on 20 March 2013, witnessed the death of more than 50 Muslims including 11 women, madrassa students, and religious teachers. Estimated 28 Students and 4 religious teachers were slashed and burnt to destroy the evidence. Though the numbers are low but it will increase tremendously if there is no effort by the Myanmar government to stop the killing immediately.

During the 6 days riot, at least 14 Mosques have been burnt though the government stated the lower number. Hundreds of Muslim houses, shops and other properties have been burnt and thousands of them are homeless. Witnesses saw the Fire engines only douse burning Buddhist homes, while Muslims homes are left to burn.

Initially there are over 1000 Muslims taking refuge in the football field with no proper shelter, food, drink and medical supplies. Currently more than 10,000 residents mostly Muslims become homeless. According to the government the 10,000 were placed in 5 camps with enough foods and water. However our sources reported that the Muslims did not get foods, water and medical supplies. According to source food cannot be sent to them

due to “security” reason. It is very weird that in a country full with the security forces the “security” becomes the big hindrance for them to save lives of other people. This shows the reluctant of the Myanmar government to protect its own people from the Muslim faith.

Though the President Thien Sein has sent his army and security forces to the affected area, the riot still spread to the other town very fast and uncontrollably. The riot has spread from Meiktila to few other towns. In Yamethin, 64km from Meiktila, a group of Buddhist burnt a mosque and 50 Muslim houses. The same incident took place in Lewei town. Muslims in Tatkone, 80km from Meiktila witnessed a group of 20 men throwing stone and ransack a mosques as well as breaking the windows. More and more Muslim has been attacked, Mosques and houses have been burnt and Muslim properties have been destroyed.

Buddhist monks and others armed with swords and knives stalked the streets of a city in central Myanmar attacking the Muslims. According to the Muslims, Pamphlets and DVDs of an anti-Muslim nature have been distributed all over in Mandalay. They show Muslims beheading those of other faiths. Some Buddhist monks have been preaching anti-Muslim sermons.

Anti-Muslim campaigns have been getting stronger in Burma during recent weeks. President Thein Sein’s government has incited the attacks and ignored the growing anti-Muslim campaigns.”

Until now nothing has been done to stop the riot and killing of Muslims. Military and police special branch only take video recordings while fire engines only watch Muslim houses, mosques and properties burnt down by Buddhist.

Myanmar government doesn’t seem to be serious to tackle the riot which claim more lives day by day. The government is in power, they can control the riot easily or they can stop the riot if they want. But they don’t want to as it is their dream to see Muslim disappear from Myanmar.





MERHROM strongly emphasized that the tragedy in Arakan State and Meiktila is not a religious conflict or communal clashes or ethnic conflict. These are the organized plan by the Myanmar government to clean the Muslims from Myanmar using the religion and ethnic.

We are still not over with the last violence in Arakan State in June 2012. The human rights violations towards Rohingya Muslim by the Myanmar government are ongoing though the International communities think the situation back to normal. The violence claims thousands of lives of Rohinya Muslims though the government stated only 180 deaths. Besides the high toll deaths more than 115,000 Rohingyas lost their houses. They had to stay in overcrowded temporary camp with severe lack of food, drink and medical supplies. The lack of basic needs resulted thousands more Rohingya children, women, elderly and men died in silence. Thousands more drowned in the ocean in their attempt to save their lives from the persecutions and prosecutions by the Myanmar government.

The violence also witnessed thousands of houses, mosques and Muslim properties were destroyed massively. Looking at the situation added with ethnic cleansing policy towards Muslims from the government, only God knows how long it will take to re-develop the Muslim houses, mosques and properties that have been destroyed in both Arakan State, Meiktila and other towns.

We have learnt from the violence in Arakan State. The violence started in one place and then spread to the other place. It has spread from villages to villages and from Township to Township. Later on it has spread to divisions and finally State to State until there are no more Muslim in Myanmar. What the Myanmar government is doing to the Muslim is the act of GENOCIDE. The Myanmar government has done the biggest crime against humanity and they must be accountable for the crime they have done.








In this very critical situation, MERHROM urge the United Nations Security Council, US Government, British Government, European Union, World Leaders, OIC, ASEAN and International Communities to:

1. Prosecute the President Thien Sein and former General Thein Shwe for Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity. They must be brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for killing, raping, torturing, detaining and abusing Minority Muslims and other ethnics.

2. Stop the economic and political relationship with Myanmar until they resolve the conflict and protect Muslims in Myanmar with equal rights

3. Urge the United Nations Security Council to send their Peace Keeping Mission to Arakan State and Meiktila Urgently to control and monitor the human rights abuses

4. Urge the United Nations to establish an Independent Commission of Inquiry to investigate, monitor and access the situation Urgently

These killings of innocent muslims is invisible for America and UN who boast for human rights protection of people,In actuality they are servent of mamonist Jews who throw there bloody penny on their mouth to run their state's biggy business of politics.
