(KILINOCHI, Sri Lanka) - The Tamil community in Montreal is in shock today after receiving a report that one of their members has been stabbed to death in Kumarapuram in Kilinochi, Sri Lanka.

The family has been informed by friends that three people came and knocked at the door. When the victim opened the door he was stabbed to death.

As most may be aware, this area is very highly militarised and nothing can happen without the knowledge of the Army and the paramilitary who are working with the army.

The victim had been in Canada for many years. He leaves behind his wife and three children, the youngest of whom is still at school in Montreal.

From the news reaching Canada, the locals are very frightened. Though, every single day bodies are fished out of wells or discovered from behind the bushes there, so far those with foreign passports have been safe. They fret that if this could happen to one with a Canadian passport what might happen to them.
