NWS: to Conduct Severe Weather Awareness Campaign

(PORTLAND – AP) - The National Weather Service offices in the Pacific Northwest are holding an awareness campaign on severe weather hazards.

It will begin Sunday and go through Saturday.

Weather officials say the campaign is to help educate the public on severe weather hazards.

Meteorologists will issue special public information statements about severe weather by highlighting a different topic each day.

Subjects to be covered are:

-- Monday: Flood and Flash Flood Safety

-- Tuesday: Tornadoes, Waterspouts and Tornado Safety

-- Wednesday: Wind, Hail, & Lightning Safety

-- Thursday: Wildfire Awareness

-- Friday: N-W-S Watch and Warning Program and

-- Saturday: NOAA Weather Radio / All Hazards Information www.weather.gov/om/severeweather/index.shtml www.weather.gov/safety.php
