(SALEM, Ore.) - Orlando, Florida Police arrested a man in a shooting that left several people hurt and one person dead. The shooting arrives on the heels of yesterday's tragic shooting at Fort Hood that has claimed the lives of 13 people.

Chief Val Demings of Orlando's police department, said the suspect began shooting at the Reynolds Smith & Hill firm, reported to be the shooter's former employee.

"We are proud to say that our SWAT team was able to aprehend the suspect, he was at his mother's house and he is in custody,"

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer told reporters that of the five shooting victims, one has died.

The suspect, 40-year old Jason Rodriguez, turned himself into police about three hours after the shootings began.

He was spotted through the window of his mother's home by police officers who asked him to come outside, according to Demings.

Rodriguez is reported to have looked at a reporter and responded to the question of why he did it, by saying, "Because they left me to rot."

Studs Terkel began his 1974 book Working with:

"This book, being about work, is, by its very nature, about violence—to the spirit as well as to the body. It is about ulcers as well as accidents, about shouting matches as well as fistfights, about nervous breakdowns as well as kicking the dog around. It is, above all (or beneath all), about daily humiliations. To survive the day is triumph enough for the walking wounded among the many of us.":

When I was the editor of the Airdrie Echo in 1981 I shared a big office with the editor of a sister publication. One afternoon, I was sitting at my desk and the other editor rushed over and attacked me. The publisher in the next room heard the commotion and came over and separated us. I wasn't fighting him, but was just trying to fend him off. I don't claim to be entirely innocent because I must have said or done something to provoke him. But still, there it was.
