(THE VANI, Northern Sri Lanka) - Former revolutionary fighters, former Tamil Tigers, are now turning shovels for the Sri Lankan government and many observing this believe it is one step this side of slave labor.

The Daily Mirror wrote the following in their report:

More than 3000 former LTTE cadres who once fought against the security forces have now joined the Civil Defence Force (CDF) after completing their rehabilitation process and most of them are stationed in the Mulaithivu and Kilinochchi districts where they are working at farms with an area of 200 acres run by the CDF to meet the daily food requirements of the armed forces.

These former soldiers of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) are working in the Vani, where well over 100,000 Tamils were killed during the intense fighting that ended in May 2009. These former POW's/LTTE fighters are now working on an army farm about 200 acres in size.

At Salem-News.com: Re-bulding ur country after a civile war has nothing to do with slavery. Under the terroristic regime of the LTTE these people lived like slaves. Get some education about the World War ll also then you were obliged to help re-build ur country. Nobody talked about slavery. What u propose? put these people in a camp and feed them 3 meals? NO! So if ur really committed to these people then help them a step forward instead of trying to cause turmoil among each other. And if u want to write about the real slaves, then do write about all the imported slave labors of the rich Middle East.
