(SALEM, Ore.) - The excitement is almost too much to take, especially for one pot bellied pig at the Oregon State Fair's petting zoo, popular for his quick reaction time in getting his belly scratched. Kids of all ages can't resist the animals.

Every one's not losing their footing though, in fact some are taking to the air.

Part of the buzz at this year's fair is high technology, and high flying rides in a helicopter take fairgoers on the ultimate carnival ride, cruising high above Oregon's Capital city.

It was another beautiful day in Oregon and thousands turned out to enjoy the 148th state fair while continuing the celebration of Oregon's 150th birthday.

The first official Oregon State Fair was in 1861, just two years after Oregon became a state. Through many generations, the Oregon State Fair has been an North West family tradition. Competitions on the state level in 4-H and FFA have a long-standing appeal to the Oregon agriculture community.

Familyville is the epi-center for interesting and participatory activities for kids, with surprising critters and on stage performers making lasting memories of the fair.

They say "kids are King" at the Fair, and that's especially true on Tilt-a-Whirl Tuesday (9/1), and Wristband Wednesday (9/2), when a $25 wristband is good for unlimited carnival rides until 5 p.m.

Coming up this week, there are plenty of unique and exciting activities to choose from at the fair including the Kids Cookie Fair, Square Dancers, a Graffiti Art Demonstration, Miss 2010 NPRA Rodeo Queen Competition Finals, Air Rifle Shooting Championships, Sea Lions, Monster Truck Rides, Dokument Skateboarding Competition, a Magic Show, and much more.

The sky's the limit at this year's Oregon State Fair, and that's no kidding around.
