SOLV’s Great Oregon Fall Beach Cleanup is SaturdaySalem-News.comFounded in 1969 by Oregon Governor Tom McCall to address litter and vandalism problems, SOLV's mission has expanded to reach every county in the state and to bring together government agencies, businesses and individuals in programs and projects to enhance the livability of Oregon.
(NEWPORT) - Saturday marks the date for the 23rd annual Great Oregon Fall Beach Cleanup. The event will take place from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM along the entire Oregon coast, from the Washington to the California borders. Volunteers may check in at one of 40 meeting sites, pick up a litter bag, and head down to the beach to help improve the coast for wildlife and winter visitors. SOLV suggest volunteers bring gloves, wear sturdy shoes, and be safe while having a good time! Groups of 20 or more are asked to register in advance by calling the appropriate Zone Captain. Visit www.solv.org or call SOLV at (503) 844-9571 or toll free in Oregon, (800) 333-SOLV for a list of Registration Sites and Zone Captains. You can save time and avoid waiting in line at the beach by using "Express Check-In." Click on www.solv.org to download a volunteer registration and waiver form before the event. Print and sign the form and bring it with you. If you live in the Portland Metro area, you can also share a ride to the beach by visiting Carpool Match NW at www.carpoolmatchnw.org. Along with SOLV, the cleanup is coordinated by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, and the local coastal haulers.
