It isn't every day you get to hear candid talk about the inner-struggle for peace in Palestine and Israel.

(SALEM, Ore.) - We constantly report stories about the conflict in the Occupied Territories of Palestine, and Israel itself, at Salem-News.com. It is our opinion and that of millions around the world, that most of the world's problems stem from the conflict in this disputed region of the world.

If you listen to Israeli Peace Activist Gila Svirsky, you just might believe that there is hope for this eternally painful and deadly situation. She says that the core problem, like so many in the world, stems from people who have extremist beliefs.

A resident of Jerusalem, Gila was born and raised on the east coast of the U.S. before moving to Israel 43 years ago. She has been able to watch many changes over the years, beginning around the time of the Six Day War in 1967.

She maintains the Website gilasvirsky.com, and in fact that site was a source for a story that I wrote a few days ago about young women from Israel who refuse to join the war of occupation, and instead are imprisoned by their country. If you didn't know, Israel has a mandatory draft for men and women that begins at the age of 18. (see: Israeli Women Serving Prison Time for Refusal to Join IDF - Tim King Salem-News.com )
