(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com is publishing from the road in recent days, as we accompany Writers Ken O'Keefe and Eileen Fleming on a Northwest speaking tour.

Ken O'Keefe of AlohaPalestine.com, is sharing background information about his life, interesting facts about the night his ship was the subject of a deadly attack by Israeli commandos, and also discussing what it will take to change Israel's apartheid policy toward the Palestinian people.

He is accompanied by fellow Salem-News.com writer Eileen Fleming of WeAreWideAwake.org. After successful engagements in Oregon, they will next visit locations in Spokane, Seattle, Olympia and Victoria BC.

Ken O'Keefe has been an anti-war activist since his service in the U.S. Marine Corps during the first Gulf War in 1991, gained fame a little over a decade later, as part of a human shield designed to protect Iraqi citizens from the U.S. invasion.

Last May this former Marine was aboard the Turkish flagged Mavi Marmara, a passenger ship participating in the Freedom Flotilla to break the illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip; a contested zone of land that is home to a million and a half people who live with the constant threat of annihilation from Israel.

Nine of those aboard the ship were killed by Israeli commandos as they attacked the Mavi Marmara with live rounds at 3:40 a.m. This was prayer time for many people aboard the ship.

So far Ken has spoken to receptive crowds in Eugene, Corvallis and Newport, Oregon. Making this tour twice as special is the inclusion of Ken's mom, Pat Johnson, who had not seen her son in person since the deadly raid on the Mavi Marmara in May.

Our crew is also shooting footage for a documentary titled 'Panamera' that will counter the BBC's recent 'Panorama' episode Death in the Med. O'Keefe and all others who know the hard facts in the story are keenly aware of the BBC and reporter Jane Corbin's extremely non-factual portrayal of the story. The BBC could not have been more of a propaganda piece than it was.

Eileen Fleming has been sharing the word about her new book, and entertaining crowds with her take on Israel/Palestine which she has visited seven times. She is the only westerner to have interviewed Israeli Nuclear Program Whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu on several occasions.
