(LAS VEGAS) - The USA Men's Senior National Team (5-0) utilized a 24-4 second quarter run to close the door on Puerto Rico (1-4) and lock up a berth into the FIBA Americas Championship 2007 semifinals with a 117-78 win Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
The win, the USA's 32 consecutive win in Olympic qualifying play dating back to 1992, kept the USA on top of the second round standings with also undefeated Argentina, and more importantly assured the U.S. of a spot in the Sept. 1 semifinals.

(PHOENIX) - After nearly two years of planning and preparing for Grand Prix Arizona, the organizers of this Champ Car race have determined that it is no longer viable and are therefore canceling the event for 2007.
“An event of this magnitude requires considerable corporate support and though we did establish some outstanding partnerships, there were simply not enough of these to create economic viability,” said Dale Jensen, owner and managing member of the sports property.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The sophomore tandem of Marissa Walter and Jessica Matthews each scored a goal, as Corban's women's soccer team fell victim to a pair of last minute goals by Mount Vernon Nazarene and were defeated, 3-2, on Tuesday in the Warriors' home opener.
After a scoreless 37-plus minutes, Walter took a through ball from senior Sara Laughlin and poked the ball past a diving MVNU keeper and into the back of the net for the game's opening goal.
With the loss, Corban is now 1-1-0 on the young 2007 campaign. Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon Nazarene improves to 1-1-0 on the season.

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) - San Francisco State sent 15 shots at the Western Oregon goal and two of them found the net during a 2-0 women’s non-conference soccer victory over the Wolves on Thursday afternoon. It was the season opener for both teams.
The Gators used goals from Myriah Johnson and Melina Triantos to secure the win. Johnson scored just a little over 19 minutes into the contest on a cross served by Kate Donaldson, while Triantos added the insurance goal early in the second half.
