Bruins Streak Past Missionaries for First NWC Win.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Goerge Fox University logoRunning off winning streaks of seven, eight, and six points to build leads in three consecutive sets, the George Fox University Bruins picked up their first Northwest Conference win of the season 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 20-18) over the Whitman College Missionaries in women’s volleyball action Friday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

In set one, a kill by Eliza Pledger ignited a 7-0 run that boosted the Bruins from an 11-6 lead to 18-6, with Ali Toedtemeier doing the serving honors, including one ace.

Tradition-Rich Teams to be Featured at Dellinger Invitational

Villanova, Oregon, UTEP have 27 combined NCAA Championships.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Bill Dellinger InvitationalMore than half of the men’s field for the Bill Dellinger Invitational will be ranked among the nation’s top 30, while the women will have three of the country’s top 13 teams as the squads for the fourth annual cross country race were announced on Tuesday.

The Bill Dellinger Invitational will be held on Oct. 2 at Springfield Country Club. The women’s race begins at 3:30 p.m., with the men going off at 4:15 p.m.

SFU Women Perfect Score, Rakestraw Third Overall for ESC

W F West won the meet with 21 points, Tumwater and River Ridge High Schools followed respectively

(OLYMPIA, Wash.) - Simon Fraser has a long history of winning team titles at the Pete Steilberg Cross Country Classic and were back on top this year after both their men and women's teams finished 2nd in '08.

Today the women scored a perfect 15 points, snagging the top 7 spots in the 5k race. The top Geoduck performance at the meet was by Senior Brian Rakestraw (Woodinville, WA) who finished third overall in 25:56.83.

Junior Heather Meyers came back from an ankle injury earlier in the week to be named the Pioneer Classic Tournament MVP.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - U of O DucksFresh off a win over No. 9 Minnesota last weekend, the now-No. 7 University of Oregon volleyball team (10-0) jumped five spots in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll and sports its second-highest ranking in school history.

Oregon remains one of only three ranked and unbeaten Pac-10 teams, and stood second among the seven Pac-10 teams ranked top 25 behind No. 3 Washington (10-0) – its opponent in this week’s Pac-10 season opener at home, Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Willamette is 2-1 after Defeating Southern Oregon on Saturday

Bearcats Return to D3Football.com Top 25 at #21.

( SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette University logoThe Willamette University football team, ranked #8 in the D3Football.com Preseason Top 25, has returned to the national poll following back-to-back victories over California Lutheran University on Sept. 12 and Southern Oregon University on Sept. 19. Willamette, 2-1 on the season, will host the University of La Verne at McCulloch Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. (PDT).

The Bearcats fell out of the Top 25 after losing to Concordia College-Moorhead, 24-17, in the season opener in Moorhead, Minn., on Sept. 5. Willamette responded with a 20-13 home victory over California Lutheran before winning downing Southern Oregon, 22-15, on the road.

The Eugene, Ore., native Little (73-68-68-141) kept her one-stroke advantage over New Mexico’s defending champion Jodi Ewart (second, 69-71-68-208), while Pepperdine’s Taylore Karle climbed a position into third place (71-71-69-211).

Linfield Cruises to GFU Title Behind Nelson’s Sub-Par Round

The next event for the Bruins, as well as several other Northwest Conference teams, is the Pacific Invitational Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 26-27, at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Oregon.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Linfield Wildcats logoLed by Tyler Nelson’s subpar two-day score of 143, the Linfield College Wildcats cruised to a 32-stroke victory over runner-up Pacific University in the George Fox University Invitational men’s golf tournament held Saturday and Sunday here at the Chehalem Glenn Golf Course.

The first day of play was halted by darkness with five of the eight groups still on the par 72, 6,646-yard course. Those groups were able to complete their first round early Sunday afternoon before the second round was played.

Beacons Fall to William Jessup

The Beacons will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Portland to face Warner Pacific University at 4:00 pm. The game will be played at Gladstone High School.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Northwest Christian University logoThe Northwest Christian University women’s soccer team kept William Jessup scoreless for the first 72 minutes of the game, but the Warriors broke through with two goals in a four minute stretch, walking away from Mike Kelly Field on Saturday night with a 2-0 victory.

The defense was in focus for both teams tonight as neither side was allowed many strong scoring opportunities during the scoreless first-half.
