Coast Guard Airlifts Stranded Boaters Near Goat Island, Wash.

The Coast Guard encourages all boaters to remain aware of weather and tidal conditions and to wear a life jacket.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Coast Guard helicopter The Coast Guard airlifted two people after their skiff ran aground in Skagit Bay just southeast of La Conner, Wash., Thursday.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., Skagit County, Wash. Sheriff’s Dept. received a call stating a 20-ft inflatable skiff had run aground in shallow water just south of Goat Island.

Reward Offered to Help Solve Unlawful Shooting of Elk in Rural Clatsop County

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Elk illegally killed in Clatsop County Oregon Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division troopers from the Astoria Area Command office are asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for an illegal shooting of an elk in rural Clatsop County last weekend. A reward of up to $500 for information leading to an arrest in this case is being offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn in a Poacher (T.I.P.) Program.

According to Trooper Jim O'Connor, on October 30, 2010, OSP Fish and Wildlife Division troopers responded to a report of a wounded cow elk on the Youngs River mainline near milepost 6. The elk had been shot with a firearm and the meat was salvaged by OSP troopers.

Search suspended for missing boater near Waldport

The search was called off Friday due to reduced visibility

(Astoria, Oregon) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard and local authorities have suspended the search for a boater who went missing Friday after his 14-foot boat capsized approximately one mile offshore near Waldport, Ore.

The search was suspended at 1:20 p.m. Saturday after the Coast Guard and local authorities searched for the boater throughout Friday night and Saturday.

Coast Guard medevacs passenger from cruise ship

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - US Coast Guard Rescue Crew Aviation Survival Technician 2nd Class Obrien Starr-Hollow, Aviation Maintenance Technician 2nd Class Shawn McCann and Health Service Technician 1st Class Russell Whitman of Air Station Astoria, Ore., tend to a 69-year-old man medically evacuated from the cruise ship Bolendam with head and back injuries Sept. 24, 2010.

The man was taken to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Ore., for treatment.

Tualatin Woman Dies in Crash East of Astoria

A Tualatin-area woman died and two other people were injured.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Fatal crash Astoria, Oregon 16 Sept. 2010 Police are continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon's two vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 202 about three miles east of Astoria.

A 1999 Volkswagen was westbound on Highway 202 near milepost 5 negotiating a curve when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with two adult female occupants.

Cannon Beach High Angle Rescuers and Coast Guard Rescue Two

Rescue teams were climbed into a cave to retrieve the pair and a Coast Guard helicopter flew them to safety.

Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Fisherman (PHOTOS)

Coast Guard crews and local agencies searched for a 65-year old man who was reported overdue from a fishing trip.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - An overturned skiff found by the Coast Guard while conducting a search for a missing boater near Nehalem, Ore., Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. The Coast Guard suspended the search for an overdue 65-year-old fisherman who was reported missing in Oregon's Nehalem Bay Friday.

The Coast Guard searched for the fisherman approximately five hours before suspending the search pending any new information that would assist in locating the man.
