Chemeketa Reopens Campus After Bomb Squad Sweep

Campus's are open again.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Early this morning, Marion County Sheriffs were contacted by KPTV 12 television in Portland. They reported a female caller had notified them that a bomb would be going off at the Chemeketa Community College this morning.
Officials say that it appears at this time that the call was a hoax.

Bomb Scare Closes All Chemeketa Campuses

The 10am threat deadline has come and gone.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
A call came in to the Marion County Sheriff's office this morning, and said there was bomb at Chemeketa Community College, set to go off at 10:00 a.m. The threat was not specific to which location, so all Chemeketa campus' were closed, and students evacuated.
An automated text system alerted all the students and staff not to report to Chemeketa or outreach centers until 11:00 a.m.

Another Suspicious Package in Downtown Salem

Salem Police are investigating a suspicious package in Oregon's capital city.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Historic downtown Salem, Oregon is open for business, but a few major thoroughfares are being detoured due to a suspicious package.
There are no details on the package itself, or how it was discovered. This information will follow, once the police investigation has been resolved.

The Salem Police Bomb Squad responded to a report of a suspicious device on the first floor of the Macy's department store parking structure.
Salem Police Lt. Jim Anglemier says officers rolled onto the scene at approximately 4:55 p.m.

Police Investigate Suspicious Packages on Linfield College Campus

Five suspicious packages discovered on campus did not turn out to be explosive devices.
(MCMINVILLE, Ore.) -
McMinnville Police found a number of suspicious packages in several open areas on Linfield College Campus early this morning just after 5:30 a.m.
They now report that the suspicious packages on the Linfield College Campus have been cleared by McMinnville Police, Linfield College Public Safety, and the Oregon State Police bomb squad.

We knew last night that a developing story involving Domestic Abuse, Kidnapping, a shooting death and a possible bomb laden vehicle, was serious, but we had no idea that it involved such a harrowing story of a victim barely surviving an incident that lasted for hours, and saw the young woman bound, duct taped, and even placed in the trunk of the suspect's car.

Linn Detectives Serve Search Warrant for Explosives

Police say explosives in a dumpster led to a residence where materials that may have been used in making an explosive device were discovered.
(SWEETR HOME, Ore.) -
Several suspicious items, believed to be explosives, were located by employees from Sweet Home Sanitation September 30th, according to Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller.
"These devices were discovered in a dumpster and did not appear to have been placed with the intent of damaging any specific property or person, but were located in trash that Sweet Home Sanitation had received," Mueller said.

Bomb Techs Render Suspicious Object Safe at State Fairgrounds

The suspicious device was a two and a half foot long cylindrical object.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police bomb technicians determined a suspicious object reported Tuesday morning in the north parking lot of the Oregon State Fairgrounds near Silverton Road in Salem was not an explosive device.
The police and bomb technician response closed a short section of Silverton Road for approximately 90 minutes, according to Oregon State Police Spokesman, Lt. Gregg Hastings.

OSP Bomb Techs Determine Suspicious Object Outside Salem-area DMV not Explosive
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police bomb technicians determined a suspicious object reported Tuesday morning near the front entrance of the Department of Motor Vehicles building on Lana Avenue in Salem was not an explosive device.
Around 8:00 a.m. OSP troopers and bomb technicians along with Salem police responded to the report of a suspicious object outside of the DMV office located at 1905 Lana Avenue NE.
