Cargo Vessel Strikes Pier, Two Barges in Clatskanie

No pollution or injuries were reported, but one of the barges was pushed to shore by tugboat after papermill staff determined it might sink.

(ASTORIA, Ore.) - Damage at Papermill in Clatskanie A cargo vessel carrying lumber struck a pier and two barges damaging a building at the Wauna Georgia Pacific papermill in Clatskanie, Ore., Friday.

The motor vessel Susaki Wing out of Panama struck the pier at approximately 5:53 p.m. after losing propulsion. Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Astoria dispatched an HH-60 helicopter crew and a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew to the scene.

Police Identify Four Teens Killed in Crash Near Clatskanie

Quadruple Fatal Traffic Crash on Highway 30 also injures another driver and a fifth teen.

(CLATSKANIE, Ore.) - Fatal crash, Clatskanie, Oregon 8-10-09 Police say four teenagers died and a fifth was critically injured Monday morning when the sport utility vehicle they were in collided with a van on Highway 30 about one mile west of Clatskanie in Columbia County.

The teenagers are from Clark County, Washington and their names are not being released until after Oregon State Police investigators have confirmed next of kin notifications are completed.

Clatskanie-Area Woman Dies in Crash on Highway 30 West of Rainier (PHOTOS)

Highway 30 was closed about 3 1/2 hours as traffic was re-routed onto area roadways.

(RANIER, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Ranier, Oregon 1-9-09 Oregon State troopers say a Clatskanie-area woman died Friday evening when her car crashed into a sport utility vehicle on Highway 52 west of Rainier.

Problems Rising in Clatskanie (PHOTOS)

Those needing sand bags can get them at the City Shops on Clatskanie Highway 47.

(CLATSKANIE, Oregon) - Salem-News.com Clatskanie officials have closed the Clatskanie School District. Due to flooding the Swedetown Village Manufactured Home Park has been evacuated, the area where the Northwood In and Carla's Closet have been flooded.

Swedetown Road at Olsen Road are under water and residents are urged to avoid this area as the road is closed.

Red Cross officials have set up a shelter that is currently open to those who have been affected by the floods.

Update: Dangerous Wanted Man Arrested Saturday Morning in Columbia County

A Rainier police officer came across McMillan walking down the road.

(CLATSKANIE, Ore.) - Oregon wanted suspect Patrick McMillan caught 4-5-08 A man considered armed and dangerous by police who was wanted on several warrants including one charging attempted murder, was arrested Saturday morning after he was spotted by a police officer.

41-year old Patrick Allen McMillan was the subject of an extensive search by officers from local, county and State agencies Friday afternoon and evening.

Police Looking for Dangerous Wanted Man Northwest of Clatskanie

Patrick McMillan is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone spotting him in the area is asked to immediately call 9-1-1.

(CLATSKANIE, Ore.) - Patrick Allen McMillan Clatskanie Police are looking for a dangerous wanted man about 5 miles northwest of Clatskanie near the intersection of Bodine Road and Quincey-Mayger Road.

Police say 41-year old Patrick Allen McMillan is currently wanted on a Columbia County felony warrant listing numerous charges including Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnap.

One Lane Re-opens on U.S. 30 west of Clatskanie

On December 11th the Lower Columbia River Highway was closed near Clatskanie from a slide several football fields long of mud, trees and other debris.

(CLATSKANIE, Ore.) - Clatskanie mudslide in Oregon, 12-13-07 Traffic is once again moving on a stretch of highway near Clatskanie, Oregon that was ravaged by a mudslide last week. Oregon's Department of Transportation has re-opened one lane of U.S. 30 west of Clatskanie at milepost 67.

But they say motorists should still expect delays, as flaggers and pilot cars will control traffic through a limited section of this recently damaged roadway.
