Many of the refugees will stay and contribute to society in their new home.

(OLDENBURG, Germany) - immigration Posted on streetlamps all over Germany are stickers showing fleeing silhouettes with the caption, “Refugees welcome – bring your families”.
Some have been blacked out with felt markers or ripped partially away.

The Germans have mixed feelings about refugees.

Germany`s New Right Wing

The clash of cultures has created some problems.

(OLDENBURG, Germany) - Germany Since parliamentary democracy was restored in Germany after World War Two, several right-wing parties have sought to get the required 5% of the popular vote to be represented in parliament.

They all failed until 2017. In that election a new right-wing party, Alternatives for Deutschland (AfD), won 13% of the vote, making them the third most powerful party, ahead of the Greens, the Lefts, and the Liberals.

Hummels heads Germany past France.

(RIO De JANEIRO, Brazil) - Germany France World Cup Mats Hummels headed Germany past France at the Maracana and into a FIFA World Cup semi-final at the Mineirao.

The 25-year-old centre-back scored the only goal in the 13th minute, and Joachim Low’s side will now head to Belo Horizonte to face the Brazil-Colombia winners.

USA finish second in the group and will now meet the winner of Group H, likely to be Belgium.

(RECIFE, Brazil) - USA Germany World Cup Germany beat USA 1-0 on a rain-soaked day in Recife, a result that takes both sides through from a highly competitive Group G at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

A 2-1 win for Portugal over Ghana in the section’s other game was enough to push both the Americans and Germans through on four and seven points respectively.

Former Pilots Star Ryan Nicholas Signs With German Club

As a senior this past season Nicholas earned All-WCC honorable mention honors for the second straight season.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Ryan Nicholas University of Portland graduate Ryan Nicholas has signed a professional contract with German club Mitteldeutscher BC Weissenfels of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), the top division in Germany.

Nicholas, a three-year starter with the Pilots, concluded his career ranked No. 5 in Portland history in both rebounds (833) and double-doubles (24) and also was No. 12 in career scoring (1,238).

Germany close out their section campaign against USA on the northern coast in Recife on June 26.

() - Germany and Ghana World Cup Germany and Ghana were forced to settle for a share of the points after their back-and-forth thriller in Fortaleza finished 2-2.

A Glimpse of Jewish Warsaw

A new exhibition, “Miasto i oczy” (“The City and the Eyes”), dedicated to Kipnis’s photographic legacy, has opened at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw.

(WARSAW) - Warsaw Ghetto Menachem Kipnis is known to Jewish history as a cultural figure who worked across several fields. Born in Uzhmir, Ukraine in 1878, Kipnis distinguished himself as a singer, ethnomusicologist and journalist.

As a singer he was the first Jewish tenor in the Warsaw Opera (1902-1918) and along with his wife, Zimra Zeligfield, he was among the most important early singers of Yiddish folksongs.
