Woman Killed By Train Near Gervais

(GERVAIS, Ore.) -
Marion County deputies have identified the victim of a fatal train vs. pedestrian collision early Saturday morning, as 53-year old Anna Emerikov, of Gervais. Her family has been notified. No information has been developed as to why she was on the tracks.
Marion County Sheriff spokesman Don Thomson, says deputies responded to a report of a train versus pedestrian accident on the Union Pacific tracks one mile north of Gervais, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

A fiery car crash broke out early Sunday morning in Gervais, Oregon, requiring response from police and several fire units. Our camera was on the scene to bring you the images below.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office and Fire District were called out to the scene around 1:00 a.m., finding the vehicle crashed in the ditch, and on fire.

Pudding River Crash Claims Lives of Two Young Men

The two who died are 21-year old Luke Christopher Jackson of Forrest Grove, and 20-year old Tyler Ray Libel of Woodburn.
(MT ANGEL, Ore.) -
A report of a vehicle off the roadway submerged in the Pudding River, east of Gervais, drew the response of Marion County deputies Monday at approximately 3:40 p.m.
Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Mt. Angel – Gervais Road
at a speed estimated in excess of 100 miles per hour before the crash.

(GERVAIS, Ore.) -
Marion County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by an Amtrak train Thursday at 3:30 p.m. about 1/2 mile north of Gervais.
When deputies arrived they found a 33-year old Hispanic male who was deceased and identified as Antonio Montelongo believed to be from the Gervais area.

Family of 7 in Gervais Sees Home Go Up in Flames

A late evening fire Monday left a family of 7 without a home. Paul Iverson, Fire Marshal with the Woodburn Fire District, says fire crews were dispatched to a report of an attached carport on fire at 9:30 p.m. Monday evening.
"The first arriving engine called for a second alarm due to the fire extending into the home," Iverson said.

Investigators Process Search Warrant Seized Property In Gervais

Volunteers are working to return calls to possible victims who have left information on that hotline, the police say it is going to take a while.

A 15-person Task Force comprised of personnel from the Salem Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Office, Woodburn Police Department, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police are continuing to process and research property seized in search warrants served on the property of Ivan Cam at 9884 Mt Angel-Gervais Rd NE, Gervais.
Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says this investigation began with the theft of a vehicle from a residential burglary in Salem early last December.

Dump Truck Crashes Into Home Injuring One Near Gervais

The dump truck traveled over 300 feet through a grass field before crashing into a manufactured home.
(GERVAIS, Ore.) -
The resident of a home near Gervais received minor injuries this morning when a dump truck crashed through the walls of her living space. Police investigating the case say the driver may have had a medical problem while driving.
The empty ten yard dump truck driven by 42-year old Scott J. Vanholland was westbound on Highway 219 near French Prairie Road at 10:30 AM when it failed to negotiate a curve, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Mark Davie said.

Fire Damages Gervais Home

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
(GERVAIS, Ore. ) -
When fire crews arrived they found a 2 story single family home with heavy smoke coming from the back of the structure.
The fire was discovered by a Gervais Police officer who noticed smoke near the police station.
When the officer went to investigate he located a house on Third street with heavy smoke coming from the back of the structure.
