A racially insensitive, antagonizing environment has been the worst kept secret for generations.

I wish I could say I was surprised to read that three football players from my Alma Mater Lake Oswego High School were suspended for targeting a former Black teammate with racist tweets, but I know better.
I was watching from the bench on the infamous night when our crowd broke out into chants of "You can't read," and "Hooked on phonics," to taunt a Black Lincoln basketball player.

Westside Christian High Choir Wins Fifth Straight State Championship

As the morning of May 5 arrived, the pressure to perform was high. Eight 3A schools from across the state had earned the right to compete in the OSAA 3A State Choir Championship held at George Fox University. For Westside Christian High School the stakes were even higher. They set out to do the unimaginable - capture the State Championship title for the fifth consecutive year. And win they did!

West Linn Police Arrest Pair After Routine Car-Stop Leads to Evidence Car Prowls in Lake Oswego

(WEST LINN, Oregon) -
West Linn Police arrested Santera Evelyn Beavis and her ex-husband, Bradley Christian Beavis of Salem, after a traffic stop reveals evidence of car break-ins and drug possession.
An officer stopped the car after learning that the owner had an arrest warrant, he turned around to catch up to the car, and it began to drive erratically.

PCC`s Senior Studies Institute: Having Fun and Turning 20

It's laughter, lively discussions and lots of learning. What is it? It's the Senior Studies Institute at Portland Community College and its turning 20 years old this year.
At the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation District Building and five other locations around Portland, the institute is giving retirees a path to lifelong learning. On a day in early September, about two-dozen senior citizens gathered in one of the old Safeco Insurance Building's classrooms on Kruse Way to chat about current events. In these classes, there's food, social networking, exchange of ideas and plenty of learning. Through offerings like this one, SSI gives attendees a social network and a way to continue their education.

Large Tree Falls in Power Lines, Blocks Access for 50 Lake Oswego Residents

(LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.) -
This morning at 8:11 am a large tree fell across Lakefront Rd. at McVey Avenue in Lake Oswego. The tree took down power lines and other utility lines as it fell.
Lake Oswego Firefighters secured the scene and denied access to the area due to the power lines tangled in the fallen tree.

Fugitive Melvin Anthony Murray Located and Taken into Custody

Melvin Anthony (Tony) Murray was taken into custody without incident at a Hotel located at 4911 NE 82nd Avenue, Portland. Lake Oswego Police Detective Lee Ferguson followed up on several leads and located Mr. Murray staying at the location.

Lake Oswego Police offer reward for fugitive
(LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.) -
Police need public assistance in locating Melvin Anthony (Tony) Murray. Mr. Murray is 5'7" tall, weighs 150 pounds and is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
Mr. Murray currently has two outstanding arrest warrants, for theft, and is believed by investigators to be involved in numerous other crimes to include forgeries and burglaries in the Portland Metropolitan area.
Mr. Murray is suspected in passing a forged check for over 4,000 dollars in Lake Oswego and attempted to do the same at a church in Gresham where he was given temporary refuge. These checks were later discovered to have been stolen, altered and cashed prior to the victims being aware of the theft of their checks.
