Apartment Fire Leaves Local Family Homeless

(MT. ANGEL, Ore.) -
At approximately 1:00 am this morning, the Mt. Angel Fire District was called out to a commercial structure fire located in the downtown portion of the City of Mt. Angel.
The fire started in an apartment located above several commercial businesses which are all connected together through the downtown core area.

Mt. Angel Crash Leaves Two Boys Dead and Four Others Injured (UPDATED)

There is a stop sign for Dominic Road, but not for Meridian.
(MT. ANGEL, Ore.) -
Two children died and four other people were injured in a crash east of Mt. Angel Saturday morning.
A traffic deputy found the intersection strewn with debris from the collision. The weather was clear and the roads were dry.

Police Investigate Fatal Crash with Multiple Injuries on Highway 214

Police say more information will be released later Saturday following the initial investigation.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash on Highway 214, Wilco Highway, and Monitor-McKee Road. This is a rural area between Woodburn and Mt. Angel.
There are few details at this point. Police reported two vehicles with other multiple injuries also stemming from the crash. The highway is closed at that intersection and anyone passing through will need to take alternate routes until the scene is cleared.

13-Year Old Silverton Boy Shot in Neck While Hunting

In spite of the gunshot wound, the boys then walked approximately 1/2 mile to the victims house.
(SILVERTON, Ore.) -
A Silverton teen will recover after being shot in the neck during a hunting accident today at 5:30 p.m.
Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says one boy shot the other accidentally in the 7500 block of Meridian Road in Mt. Angel.

Police Praise Oktoberfest Organizer`s Hard Work as DUII Arrests Drop

Oktoberfest was a great success, thanks to the responsible drivers who kept it safe.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
DUII arrests made by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers, Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies and Mt. Angel police dropped in comparison to previous years during 2008 Oktoberfest in Mt. Angel.
Police agencies reported seven people were arrested for DUII, two of which involved individuals attending Oktoberfest activities. Last year officers reported 11 DUII arrests, ten involving people attending the event. During the 2006 Oktoberfest, officers arrested nine DUII drivers.

Another Area Teacher Faces Sex Abuse Charges

Mt. Angel's School District makes statement over arrest and investigation.
(MT. ANGEL, Ore.) -
Another teacher from the rural communities northeast of Salem has been arrested on Sex Abuse charges.
Mt. Angel School District Superintendent Bob Young says they were notified that Colby Molan, a PE and health teacher at Kennedy High School, was arrested and charged yesterday afternoon with one count of Sex Abuse III and one count of Official Misconduct. These are misdemeanor crimes.

Police Searching For a Man Who Allegedly Exposed Himself Near School Bus Stop

The suspect was driving an older, full-size car, possibly a Cadillac, Lincoln Town Car that was painted with grey primer and had a red cloth top that was peeling away from the metal.
(MOUNT ANGEL) -
Mount Angel police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who allegedly exposed himself in front of children before they boarded a school bus Monday morning.
A woman noticed a man sitting in a car watching children near W Marquam Street and Railroad Avenue.
When the man called her toward his car, and when she approached, she said he was touching his genitals with his pants off.
She alleged that the man made threatening comments toward the children before leaving the area police said.

Four Injured in Multiple Car Crash Near Mt. Angel

Two victims were taken to Salem Hospital with minor injuries. Another was taken to a Portland Hospital Burn Center with severe burns to his face and hands.

Just prior to 7:30 AM Monday, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Dominic Rd NE and Meridian Rd NE near Mt. Angel on a report of a multiple vehicle crash.
Investigators say a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by 46-year-old Kimmaree Lewis, of Mt. Angel, was driving east on Dominic Rd NE and failed to stop at a stop sign...
