Tribute to Oregon Professor Jeffrey Barlow

Oregon has lost a noted Scholar, distinguished historian, and long-time Pacific University professor.

(YAMHILL, Ore.) - Dr. Barlow taught Asian History in Oregon at institutions of higher learning; University of Oregon, Lewis & Clark College, and retired as Professor Emeritus from Pacific University. He was a co-founding member of the Northwest China Council and editor of the Journal of the Association for History and Computing.

A lifelong friend of China, he was active in the U.S. China Peoples’ Friendship Association before normalization of U.S.-China relations in 1978. He was a Fulbright student and a Fulbright Scholar.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - In 1962, Kirby Brumfield signed on with Portland's KATU Channel 2 as Director of Agricultural Programming, the station's first weatherman, and he was the first voice to come over the air.

As an actor, he was cast in many prime time TV shows including The Green Hornet (1966), Batman (1966) and 12 O'Clock High (1964), as well as Jessie James, FBI, and General Hospital.

Dr. Phil Leveque, WWII Hero and Pot Doc Has Died

(SALEM, Ore.) - It is with great sadness that I share this news. Our doctor, friend, teacher, and mentor 92-year old Phil Leveque passed away Saturday afternoon, peacefully with his family aside him.

His great niece described him as “The Most Awesome, Intelligent, Funny, Open-minded, Game Changing, Great Uncle, Dr. Phil Leveque”, and that about covers it. He did change the game.

Brilliant Director-Producer-Truthteller Anthony Lawson Remembered

(SALEM, Ore.) - Anthony Lawson was an international prize-winning commercial director, cameraman, ad-agency creative director and voice over talent. He used to be known for shooting humorous commercials, but as he learned more about the world and why things are the way they are, he found less to laugh about, and instead found his passion about sharing the truth.

He spent his final years using his vast experience to shed light on the events of 9/11 and the terrible world events that have since followed.

Former Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh Dead at 91

Atiyeh, was the first Arab-American governor in the country.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Former Oregon Governor Victor G. "Vic" Atiyeh succumbed to renal failure at a Portland hospital his spokesman said.

Atiyeh, a Republican, was the state's 32nd Governor, and served two terms from 1979 to 1987.
