Washington Man Takes Own Life after Standoff with Oregon Police

(SISTERS, Ore. ) - Police Lights Night Oregon State Police, with the assistance of Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Bend Police Department, are investigating the death of an adult male following a standoff Saturday during a stop along Highway 20W between Sisters and Bend.

Progress Made on Two Bulls Wildfire; Evacuations, Road Closures Still in Place

The Two Bulls Fire has still not reached the City of Bend's Bridge Creek watershed nor is it jeopardizing the city's "Outback" drinking water facilities.

(BEND, Ore. ) - Good progress was made today on the east flank of the Two Bulls fire west of Bend.

Fire crews have most of that side complete with hose lines and lots of mop up continues with the advancement of the hose lays.

FEMA Approves Aid for Bend, Oregon Wildfire

The fire presents a major threat to the city’s surface water supply due to its proximity to a municipal watershed.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley announced on Monday that the state’s request for fire management assistance to help fight the Two Bulls fire in Deschutes County was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency on June 8th.

The funds that Merkley announced can be used by local officials for equipment and supplies, emergency work (such as evacuations and sheltering), an emergency operations center, firefighter health and safety, and mobilization and demobilization costs.

Oregon Fires Crews Battling Two Fast Moving Wildfires Near Bend

The fire's have grown to over 6,100 acres overnight and some 2,000 homes are now threatened. The fire is zero percent contained.

(BEND, Ore. ) - Two fast moving forest fires which are burning over 300 acres north of Bend, caused homes to be evacuated as firefighters came in to fight the blazes.

The Oregon Department of Forestry says the Two Bulls Fire was called in by a lookout around 12:48 p.m. on Saturday. They were burning in open land around ten miles northwest of Bend.

Bend Officer Involved in Fatal Shooting

The man was shot during the encounter with the police officer.

(BEND OR) - Police shooting The Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division and Deschutes County District Attorney's Office, with the assistance of Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Bend Police Department, are investigating a Friday night fatal officer-involved shooting by a Bend police officer.

On November 22, 2013, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Bend police officers responded to a reported possible burglary-in-progress at 2878 NE Jackdaw Drive in Bend. The address was the location where earlier in the day Bend Police Department served a search warrant and seized illegally possessed firearms, heroin and methamphetamine.

Firefighters Attack New Fire Starts

Multiple recreational events continue today throughout the area. All campgrounds are open, the air is good, and the water is cool.

(SALEM) - Steeple Rock Fires - A view from helicopter of the fires around Steeple Rock.  Credit: Chad Calderwood Thunderstorms on Saturday brought five new fires to the Middle Fork District. These additional fires have been added to the Buckhead Complex and are being managed by the Type 3 South Cascade Interagency Management Team.

Three of the new fires are located north of Steeple Rock, one is near the North Fork of Indian Creek, and one is near the headwaters of Packard Creek.

Bill Clarifying Tax Assessment Gives Certainty to Data Centers

“Facebook bill” will give Oregon another tool to attract business to state.

( SALEM) - Facebook The Oregon Senate approved legislation this morning that quickly responds to concerns of some large data centers located in enterprise zones.

SB 1532 clarifies that Facebook’s Central Oregon data center is not subject to central assessment. The group brought the billion dollar company and over 55 permanent jobs to central Oregon.
