Canada Risks Repeating ‘U.S. Mistakes‘ with Mandatory Minimum Sentences in Bill C-10.
(WASHINGTON DC) -
A high-profile group of current and former law enforcement officials from the United States is calling on the Canadian government to reconsider the mandatory minimum sentences for minor marijuana offenses proposed in Bill C-10.
They argue that the taxation and regulation of marijuana is a more effective policy approach to reducing crime.
Among other things, an Oregonian article this week cites the 30 or so Marijuana dispensaries in the Portland area and another 30 throughout the state.

Majority Wants Legislators to Remove Criminal Penalties for Possession of Small Amounts of Marijuana.
(MONTPELIER, Vt.) -
According to a Public Policy Polling survey released today, a majority of Vermont voters are in favor of removing criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana.
Under current Vermont law, the penalty for possession of marijuana is up to six months in jail and up to a $500 fine.
Prosecuting attorneys, judges, juries; seem to feel that severely punishing Marijuana users is a sort of game.
