54 More Oregonians Have Died from COVID-19

Oregon reports 1,203 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases and 54 new deaths

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - There are 54 new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state's death toll to 1,667, the Oregon Health Authority reported at 12:01 a.m. today. The high number of deaths serves as a reminder that the pandemic continues to pose a threat to our friends, neighbors, co-workers and communities.

The rising case count that surged in November and December is one factor attributed to today's record-tying high death count.

(SALEM, Ore.) - On Friday, January 1, 2021, two groups with opposing ideologies scheduled protests in Salem in separate locations. The event at the Oregon State Capitol was organized by Oregon Women for Trump and was heavily attended by affiliates of the Proud Boys.

Many of the attendees at the state capitol were armed with various weapons, knives, chemical sprays, batons and firearms.

Oregon Reports Total COVID Death Toll of 1,433

There are 515 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Oregon

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 has claimed six more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 1,433, the Oregon Health Authority reported today.

The OHA also reported 865 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 110,545.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Monday morning, armed individuals attempted to disrupt the Oregon Legislature’s special session by taking over the State Capitol building. The Oregon State Police and Salem Police removed the individuals. Salem Police maintained order outside the building.

21 More COVID Deaths in Oregon Yesterday

As of 12:01 a.m. today, Oregon reports 1,339 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, 21 new deaths

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 551, which is three fewer than yesterday. There are 113 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, which is unchanged from yesterday.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.
