Children of Vietnam Provides Scholarships, Playground Improvements with Generous Grant from MoneyGram International

MoneyGram made the grant to Children of Vietnam as part of its Global Giving program.

(WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.) - Salem-News.com Thanks to MoneyGram International, five economically disadvantaged students from central Vietnam will be able to continue their college education and kindergarten children.

Military Ethics: `Do the Right Thing`

The veteran who seeks medical care and disability compensation when there’s a delay in the onset of injuries is often met with open hostility by the DOD, the VA, and his own medical care providers.

(CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.) - Marines in dress blues The Navy and Marine Corps are faced with the choice of ‘doing the right thing’ by supporting legislation to provide medical care and compensation to those injured from exposure to environmental hazards while on active duty.

If not the Corps will face the backlash of a public outcry for not doing so, including lawsuits from dependents and civilian workers that could run into the billions of dollars.

Wounded by the North Vietnamese, Killed by Monsanto

Agent Orange, Vietnam, and the Struggle No American Should Ever Know. Semper fi Edward Evans...

(SALEM, Ore.) - As a Marine in Vietnam, Edward Evans was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in combat.  Edward Evans passed away from brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme in March of 2003. His wife Sheree has been fighting for widow’s benefits from the VA for her husband’s cause of death as a result of Agent Orange exposure in the ensuing years.

Marines like Edward Evans were sometimes frequently exposed to the deadly chemical Agent Orange in the Vietnam War, but the govt. and chemical manufacturer Monsanto have fought tooth and nail to avoid accountability.

State Dept Should Limit Self to Twitter Communications

The State Dept. might consider conducting its briefings via Twitter, where functionaries have proven more adept at succinctness and clarity:

(ISTANBUL) - State Department Lately I have been concerned about the job security of PJ Crowley, usual emcee of the U.S. State Department daily press briefings.

The bio on his Twitter account reads: As U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, I carry out the Secretary’s mandate to help people understand the importance of U.S. foreign policy.”

VA Links Brain Cancer to Agent Orange Exposure in Recent Court Decision

According to Court documents, Mrs. Sheree Evans had fought for service connection for the cause of her husband’s death for almost eight years, based on a promise that she had made to him before his death.

Hmong People Mourn Death of Royal Lao General Vang Pao

Vang Pao, former general, Hmong leader, and enemy of the Communist Pathet Lao, passed away at the age of 81.

(FRESNO, Calif.) -  Royal Lao General Vang Pao Vang Pao, former Royal Laos general; noted Hmong leader and military leader, passed away in Fresno, California late Thursday. He had been hospitalized for the ten days before his death in Clovis, California.

Vang Pao was born in the Xiangkhouang Province of Laos, which was French Indochina when Gen. Pao was born in 1929.
