PAAIA Releases 2009 National Survey of Iranian Americans

Ties between Iranian Americans and Iran remain strong.
(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
In August of 2008, the Public Affairs of Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) commissioned Zogby International to conduct a national public opinion survey of Iranian Americans to gather, for the first time, accurate and timely information about the demographics and views of the Iranian American community.
The purpose of the 2008 survey was to provide PAAIA with the knowledge required to more effectively represent the Iranian American community, and to further inform and educate the American public at large, as well as U.S. policy makers and opinion makers about Iranian Americans.

Although Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had earlier attempted to put the nuclear issue off the bargaining table, this rhetorical flourish was a mere opening gambit and nuclear issues will certainly dominate the talks. As Henry Kissinger pointed out, these talks are just beginning and there are highly unlikely to be any breakthroughs for a very long time. Diplomacy is a marathon, not a sprint.

After talk of an Israeli airstrike on Iranian nuclear sites was renewed after months, former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski says the US should warn Israel that its jets will be shot down on their way to the Iranian targets.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, the former national security adviser to US President Jimmy Carter said the issue should be made clear to Israel that in case of an attempt to attack Iran, the US Air Force will go all out to stop any such move.

Is it all about semantics?

Enough is enough. American politicians and newsrooms need to stop being so intent on stating that Iran has a nuclear weapons program, when there is no evidence of it.
The biggest problem is the eternal cultural barrier between the east and west. It cost us dearly during negotiations with Vietnam, and I have seen the problems associated with it first-hand in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Then I saw it last week when NBC's Ann Curry interviewed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
