Salem Cops Bust Reportedly Armed Kidnapping Suspect

During the K9 search, Salem Police officers found a weapon and narcotics.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Salem Police say an armed suspect who may have kidnapped a woman, opened a vehicle's passenger door Tuesday, catching the attention of police.

The vehicle reportedly failed to yield for a traffic stop; Salem Police Sgt. Dennis Engel says two DART officers were attempting to pull the car over.

New Orleans Five Years About After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

About 1,836 people died in Hurricane Katrina.

(NEW ORLEANS) - Katrina survivors My wife and I visited New Orleans last month. While there, we toured some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, and Hurricane Rita in September 2005.

Taking a guided tour left us feeling somewhat like a voyeur viewing human suffering. Yet, we were assured that New Orleans folk do not want America to let the horror of Katrina fade away.

Fencing, traditional musical instruments, they all are part of this special event, in a place under constant threat and siege by Israel's military.

(GAZA CITY) - Salem-News.com Bedouins in Gaza have a special way of celebrating their weddings. A traditional wedding practices by some Bedouins in parts of the Gaza Strip, are held in the summer.

The ceremony involves the invitation of horseback riders, who are invited to the event.

First Good News Emerges from BP`s Gulf Oil Spill

A siphon has successfully been repaired, CNN reports.

(VENICE, Louisiana) - GULF OF MEXICO -Video acquired by a remotely operated vehicle is monitored and recorded onboard the motor vessel Viking Poseidon. The first good news to come out of the BP oil spill was reported by CNN today: the tube end has been reinserted successfully into the damaged oil pipe that lies almost a mile under water, below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico.

According to CNN, this means that a portion of the leaking oil is now being pulled to the surface, where it is being captured by a drill ship.

From rockets and bombs to high tech devices, the kids in Gaza don't receive the things other kids see; in this case it is clearly positive.

(GAZA CITY) - Laptops in Gaza "One laptop per child", it is a vision that has now turned into reality.

This is the first project of its kind to be created by UNRWA, the United Nations Relief Works Agency launched a plan to distribute some 200,000 laptops to children who attend school in Gaza.
