Jesusita Fire Near Santa Barbara Only 10% Contained (VIDEO)

Experts say dry conditions will elevate California's fire risk for 20 Years.

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) - Jesusita Fire near Santa Barbara AccuWeather's Expert Meteorologist Joe Bastardi says Southern California's extremely dry conditions are going to have an ongoing impact in terms of fire safety. In fact, he says residents will continue to see fire-related problems because of this for at least the next 20 years.

The drought hasn't been good news for crews battling the Jesusita Fire north of Santa Barbara, The Pacific Ocean is cooling, and that means the weather pattern is changing and the result will be areas of the Southwest remaining dry.

Police Seek Armed Gunman in Video Store Robbery (VIDEO)

The suspect who is currently at large, is described as a white male in his 40's, five-foot ten to six feet tall, with dark hair, wearing blue jeans and a black leather jacket, and white tennis shoes with a black stripe.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Robbery investigation Salem Police are on the scene of a reported armed robbery in Salem at the Blockbuster Video store at 17th and Market. The incident reportedly happened between 11:45 a.m. and noon Friday.

Jesusita Fire Near Santa Barbara Forces Thousands of Evacuations (VIDEO)

The fire is in Red Flag Warning stage, and 90 degree plus temperatures are expected this afternoon along with continuing wind.

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) - Jesusita Fire north of Santa Barbara, Calif. Extremely dry and windy conditions are fueling the Jesusita Fire north of Santa Barbara, California. It marks an early entry for the wildfire season in a state that saw severe damage and loss of life due to wildfires last year.

So far the Jesusita Fire has forced the evacuation of more than 13,000 homes. The residents of another 13,000 homes are on evacuation standby.

Wildfires Threaten Southern California and Arizona (VIDEO)

Accuweather.com reports that these fires come at the beginning of what could be a devastating fire season for portions of the West.

(LOS ANGELES) - Fire weather map A wildfire has forced mandatory evacuations in California Wednesday, while another fire continued to burn out of control in Arizona. Both fires started Tuesday and are currently threatening multiple structures.

The California fire, dubbed "The Jesusita Fire," started around 1:50 p.m Tuesday afternoon and quickly spread through the slopes of the San Roque Canyon north of Santa Barbara.

Illegal in Afghanistan, are the Bibles a blessing or a curse for people in this strict Islamic nation?

(KABUL Al Jazeera ) - The newly printed Bible in Dari U.S. soldiers have been encouraged to spread the message of their Christian faith among Afghanistan's predominantly Muslim population, video footage obtained by Al Jazeera appears to show.

Military chaplains stationed in the US air base at Bagram were also filmed with bibles printed in the country's main Pashto and Dari languages.

Two Soldiers Killed and One Missing in Action in Afghanistan (UPDATE)

The soldier who is missing, William Vile, is assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Department of Defense reports the death of two soldiers in Afghanistan, and one soldier as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown (DUSTWUN). This is the military's new and somewhat confusing term for Missing in Action.

The action leading the the death of the two soldiers and the disappearance of the other, occurred May 1 near the village of Nishagam, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, where all three were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
