On the Verge of Cast Lead II, a Look Back

Regardless of all the darkness and complicity I remain of the absolute belief that we, people of conscience, can “be the change we wish to see in the world” and ultimately effect a better world.

(GAZA STRIP) - Palestinian mother through and through; Wafaa Today our team in Gaza met the Awaja family from Thabat. There were nine members of this family, seven children aged 1 to 12 years old, but one son was murdered during Operation Cast Lead (2008-2009), so seven children is now six.

Today we visited a few days in the life of this family, courtesy of a magnificent Palestinian mother named Wafaa.

West Point Army Officer Receives 37 Years in Prison

Disbarred US Army Lawyer Pleads Guilty to Forcible Sodomy with Infant

(ARLINGTON, Va.) - Former Army Major Daniel A. Woolverton A US Army lawyer and 1997 West Point graduate has pleaded guilty in Virginia court to forcible sodomy with an infant.

35-year old Daniel A. Woolverton's prison sentence of 37 years will be served concurrently with federal charges earlier this year where he also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 27 years for another crime against children.

Callifornia`s AG Asks Supreme Court to Stop Drug Companies from Cutting Deals to Block Generic Drugs

Along with the 31 other states, California's AG is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to accept the case for review and allow proper antitrust scrutiny of these agreements.

(LOS ANGELES) - California Attorney Kamala D. Harris California AG Kamala D. Harris has filed a friend-of-the-court brief in a U.S. Supreme Court case that seeks to end the "pay-for-delay" agreements in which a drug company pays competitors not to market generic versions of its brand-name drug.

Harris is the lead on this amicus brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to review these agreements that cost consumers billions of dollars and violate state and federal antitrust laws.

(SACRAMENTO) - Homeless veterans The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) has released an abstract submission form for all interested parties who would like to present a workshop at the 2011 NCHV Annual Conference and Membership Meeting being held June 6-8 in Washington, D.C.

A completed form and draft agenda should be emailed by Jan. 14. Selected recipients will be notified by Feb. 4.

Oregon`s AG Wants Legislature to Strengthen Oregon`s Child Pornography Law

The decision is in response to a Supreme Court decision striking down two child pornography convictions.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon AG John Kroger Attorney General John Kroger today said he would draft legislation to fix Oregon’s possession of child pornography law in response to an adverse court ruling.

“It is vitally important that we have every law enforcement tool available to fight child pornography,” said Attorney General Kroger.

Israeli Troops Shot on Gaza Border

At least two armed men breached the buffer zone near Khan Younis, opening fire and injuring four Israeli soldiers.

(GAZA Al Jazeera) - victims of Gaza At least four Israeli soldiers have been wounded after two armed men breached the buffer zone between the Gaza Strip and opened fire.

Al Jazeera's Stefanie Dekker, reporting from Gaza City, said there was no confirmation of how seriously the four Israeli soldiers in Kibbutz Nirim, east of Khan Younis, were injured or who carried out the attack.
