Residents Encouraged to Attend Minto Bridge Public Hearing

(SALEM, Ore.) - Rendering of proposed Minto Island Pedestrian Bridge Salem residents are invited to attend the City Council public hearing on the Minto Island Pedestrian Bridge.

The Minto Island Pedestrian Bridge is being designed to connect Riverfront Park to Minto Island. The purpose of the public hearing is to discuss alternatives to the low tier bridge design option that City Council approved earlier this year.

Salem Police Department Halloween Dress Rehearsal

We ask the entire community to assist us in making Halloween night safe and enjoyable for everybody

(SALEM, Ore.) - Halloween Pumpkins The Salem Police Department Crime Prevention Unit will host its 5th Annual Halloween Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Police Department at 555 Liberty St. SE, first floor.

The focus of the event is to have children's costumes ready to wear for a safe evening of Halloween trick-or-treating.
Children and their parents are invited to dress up in their Halloween costume and have it evaluated for safety based on common hazards, such as low visibility (specifically the reflectivity of the costume, as well as the visual limitations due to masks or wigs) and costume fit (length as a tripping hazard).

Officer Involved Shooting in Tigard

(TIGARD, Ore.) - Shooting investigation logo On Thursday, October 14, 2010 at approximately 5:30 pm, two Tigard Police Officers were completing a report while seated in their patrol vehicle. The vehicle was parked in a lot at the Washington Square Mall in Tigard near the Sears store.

The officers began to observe what appeared to be a "road-rage" incident whereby a suspect began to ram another vehicle. The officers quickly exited their patrol vehicle in efforts to contact the suspect. During their attempts, the suspect fled in his vehicle and while doing so, struck additional vehicles.
