$653,500 in Marijuana Siezed by San Ysidro CBP Officers Over Weekend

CBP officers at both border stations apprehended 15 wanted felons with warrants for their arrest
(SAN YSIDRO, Calif) -
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports of entry this weekend were busy intercepting drugs hidden in various compartments.
CBP officers at both ports seized 1,307 pounds of marijuana in 13 different smuggling attempts from Friday 6 a.m. to Monday 6 a.m. The drugs were estimated to have a street value of $653,500 dollars.

Jewish Boat to Gaza Boarded by Israeli Forces

(MELBOURNE) -
The Irene, a boat carrying nine passengers and aid for Gaza's population has been taken over by the Israeli navy and denied access to Gaza. The boat is flying a British flag and its passengers include citizens of the US, the UK, Germany and Israel. Two journalists are also on board.
Last contact with the boat's captain, Glyn Secker, was at 0937 GMT, when their path had been cut off by a Destroyer. Recent reports from other news sources indicated that the boat has been surrounded and boarded.

The program helps rental property managers, owners and landlords maintain a safe and attractive property
(TIGARD, Ore.) -
The Westside Crime Prevention Coalition (WCPC) will present a training opportunity to rental property owners and managers on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. John Campbell will present the eight-hour training session titled "Keeping Illegal Activity Off Rental Properties" at the Beaverton City Library, 12375 SW 5th Street in Beaverton. It will begin at 8:30AM and continue until 4:30PM in the first floor conference center. The cost is $35.00 which includes a continental breakfast, lunch and a training manual.
The training curriculum is adapted from a nationally recognized program developed by Campbell. The need for this training came to mind after Campbell was embattled in his own neighborhood in a struggle with criminals seemingly overtaking the area. The idea was then developed specifically for rental properties in efforts to enhance their safety and create more desirable neighborhoods.

Hops were first added to the National List by the NOSB in June 2007, when organic hops were primarily produced in Europe and New Zealand. Since then, the U.S. organic hop industry has made significant advances. Progressive, large-scale family farms in the Pacific Northwest and small, local growers across the country are now growing organic hops, even though the hop producers believe the market for them has remained weak due to the current NOSB policy which allows brewers to use less expensive, non-organic hops in their beer labeled organic.

The British embassy is expected to send a delegate to escort Maguire to the United Kingdom Wednesday.
(SPOKANE, Wash.) -
Mairead Maguire, Irish Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has been refused entry to Israel. Israeli authorities prevented the Irish Nobel laureate from entering the country upon her arrival at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Tuesday, proceeding to escort Maguire to a U.K.-bound flight.
YNET reports that Maguire resisted her deportation, and that a resulting 'scene' from her refusal to board the flight led to the plane's captain declaring that this noted human rights activist would not be able to board the plane anyway.

Higher than normal bacteria levels found at Clatsop County beach

A public health advisory was issued Tuesday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Seaside Beach in Clatsop County.
Increased pathogen and fecal bacteria levels in ocean waters can come from both shore and inland sources such as animal waste from seabirds, pets and livestock, storm water runoff, sewer overflows and failing septic systems.
