Tucson Border Patrol Weekend Seizures Net $3.6 Million in Marijuana

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 4,500 pounds of marijuana

(TUCSON, Ariz.) - smugglers truck In six unrelated incidents this weekend, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than 4,500 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of more than $3.6 million.

This truck, which smugglers attempted to camouflage, was discovered by agents as part of a weekend full of major seizures.

Los Angeles gang member arrested in Texas

The man will be processed for removal to his country of origin.

(Mission, Texas) - Salem-News.com U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas apprehended an 18th Street gang member Thursday.

The agents encountered the man while conducting patrol operations near Mission and he admitted he was illegally in the United States. The man was transported to the McAllen station where agents noticed he had numerous tattoos consistent with 18th Street gang affiliation. The man admitted to having ties to the 18th Street gang, which is considered to be the second largest gang in Los Angeles.

OSP Investigating Highway 99E Crash

(OREGON CITY) - Salem-News.com Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a critical injury crash Monday afternoon on Highway 99E just north of the Interstate 205 overpass. The southbound lanes of Highway 99E were restricted to one lane for about 3 hours during the investigation.

According to OSP Trooper Ted Moisan, on September 27, 2010 at approximately 3:35 p.m. a 2004 Mazda van driven by Melanie Miekey, age 31, from Canby, was stopped for a red stop light southbound on Highway 99E just north of the Interstate 205 overpass. A 2003 Harley Davidson operated by Harla Jane Lakin, age 55, from Oregon City, crashed into the back of the van ejecting LAKIN over the top of the van and onto the roadway.

Portland Police Investigating Homicide Downtown Victim Identified

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Homicide Investigation Portland Police Homicide Detectives have confirmed the identity of the homicide victim from early Sunday morning as 19-year-old Andre Dupree Payton of North Portland. Payton died of a gunshot wound after the shooting early Sunday at Northwest 2nd Avenue and Couch Street.
Detectives have interviewed more than a dozen witnesses so far in the investigation but still need to talk to more people. Officers responding to the original shooting scene estimate that there was 100-200 people on the street at the time.

At this point in the investigation, Detectives can say that more than a dozen gunshots were fired and that some of those shots hit cars and buildings in the area.

The following series of Cima’s photographs is an example of disaster-inspired creativity of a different nature than that espoused by hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean, who preferred to channel his artistic talents into a bid for the Haitian presidency before settling for a musical album entitled “If I Were President, the Haitian Experience”.
