Since Jay Leno retired about six months ago, the odds have been against his replacement. With Leno taking a slender amount of viewers with him to the ten o'clock show, and then Letterman hitting rating records with his affair/blackmail scandal, Conan O'Brien has had an uphill climb where it should have been a cake walk.

National Priorities Project Tallies Cost of War

As of September 30, 2010: $747 billion for Iraq and $299 billion for Afghanistan.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Money for the Sunni militias in Iraq Congress has appropriated an additional $136.8 billion for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for the 2010 fiscal year.

National Priorities Project estimates that for this fiscal year, $64.5 billion is directed to Iraq and $72.3 billion to Afghanistan.

California sets the tone for taxing and regulating cannabis much like alcohol.

(SACRAMENTO) - tax and regulate marijuana Today, in a 4 to 3 vote, the California Assembly’s Public Safety Committee passed A.B. 390, legislation that would tax and regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol.

This is the first time in U.S. history that a state legislature has ever passed—or even considered—a proposal to make marijuana legal, taxed, and regulated.

New Jersey Passes Medical Marijuana Law

New Jersey becomes the 14th state to allow medicinal cannabis for patients.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Salem-News.com The New Jersey state legislature passed a law yesterday allowing seriously ill patients with certain qualifying conditions to use medical marijuana with their doctor's recommendation.

Gov. Corzine has said he will sign the bill. This historic vote will make New Jersey the 14th state in the nation to protect from arrest sick and dying patients who are trying to relieve their symptoms with marijuana.

North Salem DMV Office Will Move This Weekend

The new office will be located at 3809 Center St. NE in a building behind McGrath’s Fish House and between Best Buy and Pier 1.

(SALEM, Ore.) - DMV location that will be closing in North Salem, Oregon The North Salem DMV field office will open at a new location on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The current North Salem location will close at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, to prepare for the move and installation of DMV equipment in the new building.

DMV services will be available at the new site beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Crane Used to Rescue Injured Construction Worker in Forest Grove

Forest Grove firefighters worked with the injured man's fellow construction workers, who used their crane to deliver him to safety.

(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - Rescue in Forest Grove, Oregon 1-11-10 Firefighters in Forest Grove responded to the Fernhill Waste Water Treatment Plant job site today, where a man had fallen 25 feet, landing on concrete.

Firefighters received the call about the injured private contractor at approximately 2:51 p.m., according to David Nemeyer with Forest Grove Fire.
