A recent award acceptance speech by pop queen turned actress Mariah Carey, might be the most memorable aspect of a recent Palm Springs film festival.
The performer might have been a little tipsy when she was escorted onto the stage at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. It made for a humorous moment that was the first thing to hit YouTube, as Sean Penn predicted later that evening from the stage.

The FBI and Port of Portland Police officers have concluded their interview of a passenger removed from Hawaiian Flight 39, that was en route to Hawaii, from Portland International Airport.

Two Oregon Air National Guard F-15 fighters, under the direction of North American Aerospace Defense Command, intercepted Hawaiian Air Flight 39 in the vicinity of Portland, Ore., Today.
The F-15s, stationed at Portland Air National Guard Base, escorted the aircraft until it landed at Portland International Airport without incident at approximately 1:15 p.m. PST, where the plane was met by law enforcement and the Transportation Security Agency.

Press TV in Iran reports that thousands of angry protesters in Turkey have staged a demonstration in the city of Istanbul to condemn the Egyptian police crackdown on a Gaza-bound aid convoy.
At least 55 people were injured in clashes that broke out between riot police and Viva Palestina activists at the Egyptian port of El-Arish on Tuesday, after Egypt said it would not allow 59 trucks for the relief convoy to enter the blockaded Gaza Strip. Following the incident, Turkish protesters poured into streets and assembled in front of the Egyptian consulate in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Clackamas Sheriff's Office investigators seek public tips in strange case.
(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) -
22-year old Jared Weston Walter was arrested on Dec. 31, 2009 at the Milwaukie Transit Center, following an alleged hair-cutting incident involving a female victim.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Det. Jim Strovink says in the wake of news stories about Walter's arrest, additional potential victims have come to the attention of the investigators.

In an unprovoked attack captured on film, the Japanese security ship Shonan Maru No. 2 deliberately rammed and caused catastrophic damage to the Sea Shepherd trimaran Ady Gil.
Six crewmembers, four from New Zealand, one from Australia, and one from the Netherlands were immediately rescued by the crew of the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker. None of the crew Ady Gil crew were injured. The Ady Gil is believed to be sinking and chances of salvage are very grim.
Ramirez-Torres was the driver of a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 22E.

An investigation into an August 2008 fatal traffic crash led to the arrest Sunday of a northeast Salem-area man on charges related to the death of an 18 year old female and injuries to another passenger.
Trooper Andrew Goffrier arrested 25-year old Martin Ramirez-Torres at his northeast Salem residence for Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, and DUII -Drugs.
