With the holiday season fast approaching, Attorney General John Kroger reminds consumers to use caution when purchasing big ticket items on the internet.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Girl using Internet Since January 1, 2009 the Oregon Department of Justice has received well over 600 written complaints about internet retailers.

The National Retail Federation estimates that nearly half of all Americans will do some of their holiday shopping on-line. While convenient for many, Attorney General John Kroger offers the following tips to consumers when shopping online.

PAAIA Commends Iranian Americans for Speaking Out and Fox Sports for Issuing Apology

Iranian Americans and PAAIA outraged by "Derogatory Remarks" made on Fox Sports about NBA's Iranian player Hamed Haddadi.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Grizzlies’ Center Hamed Haddadi is Iranian On Wednesday November 18th, Fox Sports announcers Ralph Lawler and Michael Smith made terribly insensitive and inappropriate on-air remarks about Grizzlies’ Iranian center, Hamed Haddadi, during a broadcast of their game with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The announcers’ insulting remarks demonstrated a complete lack of cultural sensitivity and respect for Haddadi’s Iranian heritage, and have rightfully outraged the Iranian American community.

Food Share, Clothing Line Address Hunger Issues

End Hunger Now t-shirt used to bring Awareness to hunger problems.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Break the Chain Apparel and the Marion-Polk Food Share have joined together to bring awareness to the hunger issues in Oregon’s Marion and Polk counties.

They have designed and produced a t-shirt that will serve as a fundraiser for the Food Share. The shirt’s slogan, “Because No One Should Go Hungry… End Hunger Now” is a powerful message that the organizations expect will bring positive attention to the hunger plight.

Missing Oregon City Man Located (UPDATE)

The man was reported missing by his family Friday.

(OREGON CITY) - 58-year old James Bartley hasn`t been seen since last Friday, in the Oregon City area James Aloysuis Bartley was reported missing by his family on Friday November 20. Bartley called is wife this morning and returned home this afternoon.

Oregon City PD contacted Bartley personally to check on his physical and mental well being. Bartley was found to be in good health with no immediate mental concerns.

Bluegrass in Oregon (VIDEO)

The 3rd monthly Eastside Bluegrass Concert Series was held at the Freedom Foursquare Church Auditorium in Portland, Oregon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Sometimes I just need to take a break from all the memorial pictures and do something else. I did that over the weekend, and had a really good time seeing old friends and listening to music that is tied to the fabric of this country.

Most of the time when I meet Patriot Guard Riders out on missions to honor our and escort our country's heroes, my contact is limited during the duration of the mission and then sometimes I get to meet some outside of that.

Thanksgiving Comes One Day Early For Hundreds in Salem (VIDEO)

Salemites are invited to enjoy a hot, homemade Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com "It's a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, dinner rolls and good ole pumpkin pie," says Mike Adams. This dinner will be a welcome sight for about a thousand people in downtown Salem Wednesday evening.

Record numbers of people are in need this year, and many are hungry. Now an ongoing annual event, a group of hard working people have served Thanksgiving dinner in downtown Salem since 2002.
