Members of Congress Blast Claims That Muslim Interns Are `Spies`

CAIR receives death threat after right-wing reps launch Muslim-bashing book.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Salem-News.com A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization today applauded statements by members of the U.S. House of Representatives rejecting claims made yesterday by several of their GOP colleagues that Muslim congressional interns are “spies.”

The Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR) also said that one of its directors has received a death threat after the Wednesday launch of a “Muslim-bashing” book by several right-wing members of Congress.

Police Respond to Fatal Crash on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway (PHOTOS)

Investigators believe speed and alcohol were both factors in this accident.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Fatal crash Portland, Ore. Portland Police say one man died early this morning at 2:50 a.m. in a single car accident in the 4500 Block of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway.

Detective Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau, says officers responding to the report arrived and found 24-year-old Ronald Earley injured at the scene. Mr. Earley was immediately taken to an area hospital and died from his injuries this afternoon.

City of Tigard Names New Police Chief

Newly appointed Police Chief Alan Orr will be officially sworn in at the regularly scheduled Tigard City Council meeting on November 24th.

(TIGARD, Ore.) - Alan Orr City Manager Craig Prosser, recently announced his appointment for a new police chief for the City of Tigard. Former Assistant Chief Alan Orr will assume his new role as Chief of Police effective November 24th.

That day coincides with the planned retirement of Bill Dickinson, the current Police Chief. Dickinson announced his retirement in August and Orr was appointed as Interim Chief of Police at that time.
