Egypt delivers 135 Tons of Medical Aid to Gaza Via Rafah

Public and political pressure is mounting over the aggressive military posturing Israel routinely takes toward its neighbors.

(BEHLEHEM - Ma'an/Agencies) - Patients in Gaza City receive dialysis [MaanImages] The Ma'an News agency reports that a shipment of medical supplies from the Egyptian Red Crescent arrived at the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip Tuesday, and was sent through the following day, Egyptian government sources reported.

According to an official at the North Sinai Governorate Ahmed Kamel, 135 tons of medicine plus renal-dialysis equipment, was included in the delivery.

Wild Coho Season Closes in Yaquina, Nehalem Basins

Fin-clipped hatchery coho may be retained in both the Yaquina and the Nehalem basins.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore.) - Coho salmon The first wild coho season in 15 years on two coastal river basins will close this week as anglers reach harvest limits designed to provide what biologists hope will become Oregon’s newest sustainable salmon fishery.

Retention of non fin-clipped coho will close on the Yaquina and Nehalem rivers at the end of the regular fishing day on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Both rivers will remain open to adipose fin-clipped hatchery coho through the end of the year. In addition, the Yaquina remains open for chinook salmon under 2009 temporary rules.

Siskiyou Fire Declared a Conflagration: State Deploys Resources

A Red Cross evacuation center has been set up at the Ashland Armory.

(ASHLAND, Ore.) - Gov. Ted Kulongoski Oregon Governor Theodore Kulongoski has declared the Siskiyou fire burning just outside of Ashland a conflagration. The declaration authorizes the state fire marshal to mobilize firefighters and equipment to assist local resources battling the fire. The fire is approximately 100 acres and 50 to 100 homes have been evacuated.

The Office of State Marshal's Red Incident Management Team and structural task forces from Coos, Benton, and Linn counties and strike teams from Deschutes, Marion, and Lane counties are en-route to assist in protecting threatened structures.

BOLI Commissioner Awards $127,713 in Sex Harassment Case

Ashland employer created hostile workplace, fired employee for asking that it stop.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Sexual harassment State Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian has issued a final order in the sexual harassment case against From the Wilderness, Inc. (FTWI) and Michael Ruppert of Ashland.

In addition to awarding lost wages, Comm. Avakian ordered $125,000 in mental and emotional suffering damages paid to Lindsay Gerken for the workplace harassment and retaliation she suffered during her less than three months of employment at FTWI. The damage award reflects the egregious conduct of Ruppert as well as the reinvigoration of civil rights enforcement by Commissioner Avakian.

Eugene Man Arrested Hiding in Attic After Police Chase

The man was arrested for Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle and Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - 44-year old Terry Kevin Larsen of Eugene Deputies in Lane County say a Eugene man was arrested Monday morning, after attempting to elude police officers from several agencies in the Eugene area.

The incident reportedly ended after the man abandoned his car and fled into his sister's residence, where a trooper and deputy convinced him to surrender without further incident.

(MACON COUNTY, Tenn.) - 13-year old Judi Juarez, a Hispanic female, is being held by the suspect, 22-year old Jose Martin Cano The State of Tennessee issued an Amber Alert after 13-year old girl was reportedly abducted from her home in Macon County Monday morning, September 21st 2009.

Information developed by authorities indicates that the suspect and the victim may be in the Huntsville Alabama area. Judi Juarez a 13-year old Hispanic female, 4 feet 6 inches tall, 100 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Information From Murder Suspect Leads to Discovery of Brooke Wilberger`s Remains

As a part of the plea agreement, the Benton County District Attorney was able to obtain information necessary to locate and recover Brooke Wilberger's remains.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Brooke Wilberger On May 24, 2004, Brooke Wilberger was abducted by Joel Courtney who subsequently murdered her. Despite extensive efforts, Brooke Wilberger's remains were not recovered during the course of the criminal investigation.

Joel Courtney was charged with the Aggravated Murder of Brooke Wilberger, and the case was set for trial beginning February 2010.
