Oregon Veteran Activist Wants PTSD Added to Medical Marijuana Program

A meeting in Portland Thursday will address the issue and proponents hope to see a large turnout of Veterans.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - US Soldiers Smoke Pot Through an Unloaded Shot Gun during The Vietnam War.  An Oregon man is trying to change the rules for medical marijuana patients, allowing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to be included among the relevant conditions that allow a doctor to authorize the use.

The state of Oregon has a chance to help veterans, reduce legal and court cost, and step forward in line with California, Canada and Israel in accepting that cannabis is a usable treatment and sometimes smart option for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Oak Hills Home Severely Damaged by Fire

Fire investigators remained on scene and the are no damage estimates at the time of this report.

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Fre at 15094 NW Oakmont Loop in Washington County 8-11-09 night at 7:35 p.m. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to a house fire at 15094 NW Oakmont Loop in Washington County Tuesday night at 7:35 p.m.

A spokesman says the first engine from Oak Hills Fire Station 68 arrived in 4 minutes and found the single family residence fully involved with fire from all sides.

Oregon CAP Helps Locate Missing Aircraft

Debris from the plane was spotted in a ravine in the Owyhee Mountains area.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - CAP The Oregon CAP was called upon by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center to assist in the search for a missing aircraft in SE Oregon.

Two Oregon CAP aircraft, each with a 3 person aircrew, from Bend and Brookings, Oregon, were dispatched to assist in the search.

Suspect Nabbed in Ladie`s Underwear During Reported Burglary

The suspect was arrested for 10 counts of first-degree Burglary, first-degree Theft, 10 counts of second-degree Criminal Trespass, and 42 counts of Possession of Illegal Fireworks.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 47-year old Randall Joseph Giesbers A 31-year old female robbery victim called 911 last night after she and her boyfriend found a suspect inside their garage wearing nothing but underwear... her underwear.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says deputies responded to the report of a burglary in progress just after 10:00 p.m. in the 4500 Block of Prince Court NE.

UO Will Confer More than 1,200 Degrees at Summer Commencement

Summer term's 1,052 degree candidates will receive 1,202 degrees and certificates.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - University of Oregon campus More than 1,000 degree candidates are eligible to participate in the University of Oregon's 2009 summer commencement exercises at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15.

Charles Martinez, vice president for Institutional Equity and Diversity, will speak to the graduates during the outdoor ceremony on the Memorial Quadrangle on the west edge of the University of Oregon campus. Tickets are not needed for the event.

Thatcher Leads Call for Investigation of Willamette ESD

The letter asks the three agencies to investigate whether there has been “a pattern of mismanagement at the WESD.

(SALEM, Ore.) - State Representative Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer, Newberg, St. Paul) Today four state legislators called for “a comprehensive investigation or audit into the alleged financial and management improprieties at the Willamette Education Service District (WESD).”

State Rep, Kim Thatcher says an outside audit was requested by 20 of the 21 school districts served by the WESD into the alleged financial improprieties and two formal complaints from WESD managers are pending further review.

Gas Price Hikes Follow Crude Oil Price Increases

Gas prices are up for the third week in a row, as the national average for regular unleaded jumps eight cents this week to $2.64 while Oregon's average shoots up ten cents to $2.79.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas prices Oregon AAA says pump prices have increased every day since July 21, until today, when the national average dropped two-tenths of a cent overnight.

Gas prices are up for the third week in a row, but are still well below last year's record levels. The national average for regular unleaded jumps eight cents this week to $2.64 while Oregon's average shoots up ten cents to $2.79.
