Police Say Forest Grove Man Died in High Speed Crash

A driver reportedly crossed the center line and collided with a large John Deere tractor pulling a steel hay trailer.

(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - Fatal crash involving Forest Grove, Oregon man 7-19-09 Washington County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a crash after reports of a vehicle colliding head-on into a tractor pulling a trailer.

Sgt. Rob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says the vehicle apparently crossed the center line of Northwest Cornelius-Schefflin Road causing the collision.

(SALEM, Ore.) - MV Victoria Ecoterra reports that the ship MV Victoria, which was seized by pirates off the Somalia coast, was released overnight against a ransom payment of US$ 1.8 million.

Oregon Marine Among Casualties From Afghanistan

Seven U.S. servicemen are killed in action in Afghanistan, while a soldier in Iraq's death was not combat-related.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Reports of numerous casualties are being dispatched by the Department of Defense. We know based on PBS News and other reports, that three Americans were killed in an explosion in Basra, but no additional details were available.

Among those killed in Afghanistan are one Tualatin, Oregon Marine and another Marine from Glendale, California. They are among five Marine Corps casualties reported, as well as three soldiers in the U.S. Army.

RNs Praise House Vote to Permit State Single-Payer Laws
