Viva Palestina Convoy Arrives in Gaza

The current convoy, which first tried to cross into Gaza on July 11th, faced numerous obstacles.

(PALOS HILLS, Ill.) - Salem-News.com To chants of ‘Viva! Viva! Palestina!’ more than 200 members of the Viva Palestina convoy made it into the Gaza Strip Wednesday after spending about six hours at the Rafah border processing paperwork.

Israel’s two-year siege of the Gaza Strip has plunged the tiny area of 1.5 million people into a humanitarian crisis. And Israel’s three-week assault further devastated the area when the military bombed homes, schools, mosques, hospitals and universities. The attack killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, wounded more than 5,300 and left more than 50,000 people homeless.

(LONG BEACH, Wash.) - John Adkins and his vessel Oregon State Police detectives are assisting Long Beach, Washington police with the investigation of a missing Albany man last seen July 5th at the Port of Ilwaco on the south Washington coast.

Sergeant Kevin Martin with the Long Beach, Washington Police Department, says 53-year old John Curtis Adkins, left with two men on the 48-foot fishing vessel "Tiger" from Garibaldi, Oregon on the Fourth of July weekend, heading for Ilwaco, Washington.

Mitchell Man Charged with 12 Counts of Animal Neglect (PHOTOS)

The owner has been charged with twelve counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree, a Class B misdemeanor, with a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

(MITCHELL, Ore.) - Neglected horses and mules A Mitchell, Oregon man has been charged through the Wheeler County District Attorney's Office with twelve counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree.

Thirty horses and two mules were seized and evidence of neglect was found in each animal. Lack of hoof care was a primary issue, as well as the conditions the animals were being held in.

Oregon Motorcycle Wipeout Caught on Video

The motorcycle dropped onto its side and the operator went down onto the pavement as the radar unit obtained a speed of 85 mph.

(THE DALLES, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Oregon State Police have released video of a serious motorcycle crash from June 18th that was recorded by a patrol car video camera.

Oregon State Police spokesman Gregg Hastings says the in-car video caught the sliding motorcycle and rolling operator as both passed the trooper's stopped patrol car along Interstate 84 in The Dalles.

Oregon Tops National Homelessness Tally (AUDIO)

The AHAR report on homelessness is compiled for Congress by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

(SALEM, Ore. ONS) - Homeless man in Salem, Oregon The number of homeless people in Oregon has climbed for the third straight year. A new national report compiled for Congress by the Department of Housing and Urban Development says about one-half of one percent of Oregonians are homeless.

That may not sound like much, but it's a higher percentage than in any other state, compared to its total population, and it means 17,000 people statewide are living in shelters or on the street.
