PTSD: Capt. Sullenberger and Ditching in the Hudson River - Reprise

Capt. Sullenberger had many nights of disturbed sleep after what he calls “the worst five minutes of my life”. I and other Combat Vets can sympathize with that. We had it every mission or artillery barrage.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com There is so much denigrating and downright ignorance about PTSD, its causes and long term effects, that I feel compelled to continually write about it.

CBS News, 60 Minutes, replayed the interviews following this astonishingly dangerous but important event. I wrote at the time, see Salem-News.com, that Capt. Sullenberger would certainly have substantial PTSD from such a frightening and anguish producing event.

(GENEVA, Switzerland) - Salem-News.com The International Diabetes Federation (IDF), the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and the World Heart Federation (WHF) called today on the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to take immediate action to avert the fastest growing threat by non-communicable diseases (NCDs) to global health.

NCDs which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory disease, cause 60% of all deaths globally and 80% of these are in low- and middle-income countries.

17 Male Breast Cancer Victims Have Ties to Camp Lejeune Marine Base

Veterans with rare cancer or tumors identify Camp Lejeune water as the source of their illnesses.

(CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.) - Water near Camp Lejeune The AP reported Wednesday that scientists studying the water at the base were "startled" after learning that 11 men with breast cancer and ties to the North Carolina base were identified over the last two years.

Over the course of the next week, 6 more men with breast cancer who were aboard Camp Lejeune were discovered.

Tours of Archaeological Site Offered at Champoeg

The archaeological project is part of continuing research into early pioneer settlement at Champoeg.

(CHAMPOEG, Ore.) - Champoeg State Heritage Area in Oregon The Champoeg State Heritage Area will offer special 'Oregon 150' archaeological tours during July beginning Friday, July 10th.

Mike Niss with the Champoeg State Heritage Site, says the tours will allow visitors to observe an archaeological dig by Oregon State University summer field school students under the direction of Dr. David Brauner, an anthropology professor at OSU.

Police Release Preliminary Information in Fatal Traffic Crash Near Wilsonville

53-year old Linda Marie Trethewy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

(WILSONVILLE, Ore.) - Oregon State Police troopers, with the assistance of the interagency Clackamas County area crash investigation team, are investigating into Wednesday morning's fatal traffic crash that occurred south of Wilsonville on Interstate 5.

According to OSP Lieutenant Jason Bledsoe, this morning at approximately 5:15 a.m. a group of vehicles were northbound on Interstate 5 approaching milepost 282 in the area of a highway work zone where signs were displayed indicating an upcoming lane restriction.
