Oregon Sees Fewest Independence Day Highway Deaths Since 1970

Preliminary Post-Fourth of July Holiday weekend statistics show second fewest number of traffic fatalities in almost 40 years.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fatal Oregon crash, 7-4-06 Preliminary statistics reported this morning by ODOT's Fatality Analysis Reporting Unit, known as "FARS", following the 54-hour Fourth of July holiday reporting period reflects the second fewest number of traffic fatalities in Oregon during this holiday period since 1970.

FARS statistics reflects the Fourth of July holiday period as the deadliest major holiday weekend of the year in Oregon.

We have seen different reactions elsewhere to piracy, most notably off the coast of Somalia, or even to the kidnapping of embassy staff and humanitarian aid personnel.

In this case, as in previous instances of Israeli violations of international law, nothing has been done. Indeed, there has been almost no coverage of the incident anywhere in the mainstream media, and a shameless silence from sheep-like political leaders almost everywhere – a silence that needs to be examined carefully.

A certain type of air pollution is being overlooked, according to a new report landing in Congress’ mailbox this week. The study shows the biological effects of wireless radiation, also called ‘electrosmog.’

(WASHINGTON D.C. ONS) - Cell phones, wireless networks and the developing "smart grid" utility technologies are being hailed as progress for communication and information, but the downside is an emerging public health issue.

A report documenting health hazards linked to wireless radiation, called "electrosmog," is landing on desks in Congress this week, issued by the National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy (NISLAPP).

Man Gored to Death by Bull in Oregon City

A family patriarch was killed by a 1200 pound bull‏ that threatened rescuers and attacked a second man, a neighbor, who barely escaped with his life.

(OREGON CITY) - Bull that killed man in Oregon City, 7-5-09 A 1200 pound bull attacked and killed a man Sunday around 4:38 p.m. during a family get together in Oregon City. 66-year old Aurgliano Paulino Martinez-Sierra was killed by the massive bull while attending to his farm animals east of Oregon City.

The tragedy took place as an estimated 30 or more extended family and friends gathered on Sunday, to visit and at their family residence on South Springwater Road in Oregon City, Oregon.

(LOS ANGELES, Calif.) - amber alert The State of California issued the Amber Alert Sunday morning after the children were abducted in Los Angeles. The suspect allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend and shot another woman in an attempted carjacking. He then kidnapped two children, and two of his own children and fled with them according to police.

Several Hurt in Highway 18 Van Duzer Corridor Crash

The highway was blocked for four hours.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Seven people were injured, two seriously, in a four-vehicle traffic crash Saturday morning on Highway 18 west of the Van Duzer Corridor in Lincoln County.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Justin McGladrey says Saturday at approximately 12:20 p.m. a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 44-year old David Carl Josephson of Yacolt, Washington, was stopped behind a group of traffic westbound on Highway 18 near milepost 7 due to an earlier crash about three miles west.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Photos of crash scene: Oregon State Police The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Salem were restricted to one lane Saturday afternoon for about 90 minutes after a pickup caught fire and spread to a grassy hillside south of Salem.

Oregon State Police Trooper Steve Hinkle says at approximately 5:40 p.m. a 1994 Ford F-150 pickup towing a 5th wheel travel trailer was northbound when it began to smoke.

(JORDAN VALLEY, Ore.) - Crash near Jordan Valley, Oregon Police say an Idaho man is in critical condition following a Wednesday night crash south of Jordan Valley where he reportedly almost hit an Oregon State Police trooper's patrol car before traveling off Highway 95 and rolling several times.

The ongoing investigation indicates alcohol is a possible contributing factor. The driver is identified as 41-year old Enrique Casas Valdez of Kuna, Idaho.
