Double Fatal Crash on Hwy 47 Near Vernonia

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Wednesday afternoon's tragic crash.

(VERNONIA, Ore.) - fatal crash Two people died Wednesday afternoon in a near head-on crash. According to OSP, two Ford F-150 pickups were fully engulfed in fire when troopers arrived at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

Both drivers were determined to have sustained fatal injuries from the crash. There were no passengers in either pickup.

West Salem Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

Ransom may spend 90 months in prison for shooting Pearce to death.

(DALLAS, Ore.) - Nicholas Anthony Ransom Today 35-year old Nicholas Anthony Ransom, of West Salem, pled guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm in the July 15, 2015 shooting death of Matthew Pearce, also of West Salem.

Pursuant to the terms of the plea agreement, charges of Murder, Manslaughter in the First Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon were dismissed.

Employee Drops Gun and Shoots Self at McMinnville Hospital

The victim was injured, but not fatally.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Willamette Valley Medical Center This afternoon a Willamette Valley Medical Center employee brought a loaded firearm in a backpack to work. The employee dropped the bag and the gun discharged causing an injury to the employee.

No one else was involved or injured. Police have safely secured the weapon and removed it from the premises. This is not an active situation and the site has been cleared.

UPDATE: Fatal Crash North of Lincoln City Closes Hwy 18 for Hours

A westbound van went off the road and caught fire.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - fatal crash Just before 3 a.m., early Tuesday July 12th, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 18, near milepost 3.5 (north of Lincoln City).

Preliminary investigation reveals a white in color 15-passenger GMC van, was traveling westbound when it departed the highway and for unknown reasons, striking several large trees and catching fire.

Pokemon Go Search Turns Up Loaded Firearm in Field

A surprise "find" for two Pokemon game players.

(CLARK COUNTY, Wash.) - 16-4 .32 gun Two young adult brothers hot on the trail of a "Pokémon character" instead came across a loaded handgun lying in a field off Hwy 99 in Hazel Dell.

Without touching the gun, the brothers suspended their GPS search for virtual creatures, called 911 and awaited the arrival of Deputy Brian Wade.

Minnesota Woman Live-Streamed Moments After Police Killed Her Boyfriend

The aftermath of the officer-involved shooting was live-streamed on facebook, then deleted by administrators.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Philando Castile Her boyfriend was in the passenger seat. According to Reynolds, Castile told the officer that he was carrying a gun, which he had a permit to carry. He told the officer that he was going to reach into his back pocket for his wallet and identification.

She said the officer told Castile “not to move” then, so he stopped and, “as he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times,” Reynolds said.

Ex-Governor Kitzhaber`s Son Injured In Crash July 4th Near Lincoln City

3 people were transported but no fatalities were incurred.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - kitzhaber A crash involving two vehicles on Highway 101 near Devils Lake Road, just north of Lincoln City, brought traffic to a standstill on one of the heaviest traveled days of the year on Oregon's coastal roadways.

About 1:30 the afternoon of July 4th, a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by 18-year old Logan Kitzhaber, was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when it crossed the centerline, sideswiping a northbound 1988 motorhome.
