Silver Falls Bank Second Oregon Bank to Fail

Silver Falls Bank of Silverton, Oregon, was closed today by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services.

(Salem) - bank closed To protect the depositors, the FDIC entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with Citizens Bank of Corvallis, to assume all of the deposits of Silver Falls Bank.

As of February 9, 2009, Silver Falls Bank had total assets of approximately $131.4 million and total deposits of $116.3 million. Citizens Bank did not pay a premium to acquire the deposits of Silver Falls Bank.

Salem Police Department is Seeking the Public`s Help in Identifying Suspect

According to bank records, the stolen credit card has been used several times in both Salem and Eugene.

(Salem) - ATM photo of burglary suspect The Salem Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a person of interest in a burglary which occurred on February 6th in the 2600 blk of 25th St. SE. The person in the photograph is using a credit card taken in the burglary. According to bank records, the stolen credit card has been used several times in both Salem and Eugene.

Anyone with information about the person in the photo is asked to call Detective Johnson at (503)588-6050.

Army Reports Casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan

Three soldiers have died in recent days in the fighting overseas.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - War Casualties Three deaths of U.S. servicemembers serving in the war theaters overseas have been reported in recent days by the Department of Defense.

Corporal Stephen S. Thompson, 23, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died February 14th in Baghdad of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.

Elder Assisted Living Facility Hit With Second Lawsuit

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Old man slippers Elderberry Square, an assisted living facility located in Florence, Oregon is the subject of a second lawsuit in as many years, alleging severe neglect and abuse.

The $1,000,000 lawsuit was filed today in Lane County Circuit Court against Elderberry Square, brought by the wife and guardian of an 80-year old man, who at the time of his admission to the facility was suffering from advanced dementia.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - Guantanamo detainees The lead lawyer for 17 ethnic Uyghurs held for years at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba is vowing to fight a new legal order keeping the men in U.S. military custody and is calling on U.S. President Barack Obama to free them quickly, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reports.

“We are bloodied but unbowed. We will fight this,” Sabin Willet, who represents the 17 Uyghurs—Muslims from China's northwestern Xinjiang region—said in a telephone interview on his way back from visiting the men at Guantanamo Bay.

Veterans for Change Asks Congress to Step Up

The Veterans-For-Change group is also asking that the Congress take prompt action to pass the Agent Orange Equity Act of 2009.
